Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Thanks for your comments :) Getting a bit of time to put in a few more hours after looking at End2end's interiors I decided to give it a bash with the shop attached to the bridge. I used the most basic materials again being match sticks, card and balsa wood and I am happy with the results. I found s...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

End2end those interiors are fantastic especially the water tank house one with the pipes and other utilities. It has inspired me to do one for my friargate bridge in the attached shop. Electrics terrify me and when I get to the stage of DCC wiring and the like I can forsee it being emotional. Keep u...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

So after a long period of thought I finally decided to repaint the bridge into an LNER livery. I did this because apparently the bridge was painted any where between 1952- 1955 into the London Midland region colours of crimson and cream. I have seen pictures of the station (be that in black and whit...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

I have been making progress with a building that is situation next to the bridge. I will start at the beginning of how I put pen to paper. In my usual way I trawl the internet for every picture possible showing as many angles as possible but the grail is a front on elevation of the subject. Because ...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Both scenes are workable but I personally like the idea of the allotments, and I think if it was me I would go for that, it will flow better from the row of houses and not obscure the scene behind.

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Looking at your progress it looks as if it comes really easy to you, and how good it looks too! I particularly like the shot of the line over the canal, the trees look great. I also like how much detail you have managed to put into the goods yard. The smallest of additions can really make the scene ...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

RailwayRobbo - Yes the viaduct is magnificent. I have trawled google earth for longer that I wish to admit :? following the course of the line, of particular interest is the fact that is it not up to date including the view from the end of Agard street in google street view which still shows the bui...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Hi there - sounds like a interesting quest.- No doubt, you have already found the nice picture taken by Ron Fisher in April 1964 here . I did find an interesting article from the Derby Telegraph - sorry can't be too much help - I based my layout on Chalford and found some great resources on YouTube...

Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout

Hello everyone, I am new to forums so bare with me! I have what my wife calls an 'obsession' 8) with the Friargate line focused on the ex Derby station it's self, so I decided after nearly 10years since building my last layout, to start a garage layout of the Ex GN extension. I have both Mark Higgin...
