The cross head screw held down the bogie frame, why i don`t know the plastic clips at at each end of the keeper plate held it tightly enough.

Re: replacing wheelsets in a hornby cl.71
Thanks,i havn`t got around to it yet.The reason i want to remove one of the keeper platesis to fit a Marklin skate to run on my Dublo 3 rail layout. There`s a serious shortage of SR locos in 3 rail,i have successfully converted a Hornby 2BIL & a 2HAL along with a Bachmann 4CEP. Ray.

Re: More eBay nonsense...........
In fairness to Rails-Vault,I`ve had a few bargains.I tend to look at Hornby Dublo or 12vDCTrix,items that i know i can repair or refinshed .I keep clear of obsolete items like Airfix or Mainline etc which are unrepairable owing to lack of spares.

3 rail is so much easier to wire & work on,this is a video of a City of London converted into Sir William Stanier FRS & finished in late 1947,early 48 LMS black lined livery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH_qZcmfsvM 20190611_230501.jpg Ray.

Re: Old Wrenn loco
It`s a standard Hornby Dublo chassis.First thing to checkis that the axles aren`t seized in the chassis, rotate the armature carefully by hand & loosen the 2 grub screws on the gear wheel, the wheels should be turn by hand. With Wrenn locos, sometimes,a wheel can shift on the plastic insulator in th...

Re: Latest model conversion from my workbench.
Well, here it is as received, just a tweak on the handrail with a pair of tweezers & parts from the TTRCA to take it to 3 rail. You have to be in the right place at the right time. The locos in the you tube videos are mine & on my layout, they do run very well. 20180930_121156 (2).jpg Two more on...
