Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Thanks for that End2End.
I agree the Church looks fine in the last picture but it's the 'Church and Village 1' picture that's not convincing me to keep it.
The more I look at it the more I can see the local 'eccentric' in his grounded coach body.

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Well finally the Stonemasons have finished and cleared the site. The church is now finished. IMG_0144.JPG IMG_0147.JPG Pictures show the church (and Lych Gate) in the 2 possible positions it could be sited in. Now I have seen the actual size of the Church I am wondering if it's not too big for the l...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Hi Marcus.
Looking good around the farm area, especially the lane.
What make are the gates and fences you're using?

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Welcome to the forum. Anything Midland especially in Derbyshire and I'm interested (I was born and raised in NE Derbyshire). About 15 years ago I used to teach at a school in Kirk Hallam near Ilkeston and my drive to and from work took me past the Bennerley Viaduct. An impressive piece of railway en...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Medieval stonemasons back on site. Church now at an advanced stage of construction. Hopefully be finished by the end of the week. Church under construction..JPG I've been thinking I should have at least one building with lighting on PETERSDALE so it's got to be the Church as this is the last kit I h...

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Like the signal box Jim. Really looks the part with it's Midland maroon paint and signs. Have you cut into the platform to make it fit LOL? Is it made from wood or card? Recently went to an exhibition at Milton Keynes and there was a company (4Ground I think) with a large display of laser cut kits. ...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Like the farm a lot. That's the only regret I have about my layout 'PETERSDALE' that I didn't have room to put a farm somewhere. I didn't want to squeeze farm buildings into a limited space and take away the open rural look I wanted to achieve. Looking forward to seeing yours progress. Metcalfe kits...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Hi guys. Thought I would just log in and inform you that the progress on PETERSDALE as ground to a halt. Those 16th century church stonemasons must have a dispute on or there's a shortage of stone from the quarry holding them up. Apart from house decorating the other thing that's distracted me from ...

Re: My first model railway build.

Hi. Your layout's looking really good. Some excellent progress going on. You have a lot going on but the overall layout has a really spacious, uncluttered look to it. Love the little loading bay/platform with the tractor etc. at the end of the branch. Looking forward to seeing how the other side dev...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

What a lovely layout :) That picture of the coal merchants is beautiful. I just about got bored of the branch line station layout but this is superb. Everything is so detailed and full of stuff jammed into every corner just like the real thing. You don't actually need any trains on it for it to loo...

Re: Bath Queen Square - something stirring again !

Hi Clive. Just spend a bit of time looking through your thread. What a fantastic layout. Very iconic as well. Everything looks first class. House moves must be the modellers biggest enemy LOL. I'm currently on a one week decorating/one week modelling roster. Being retired I tend to be a bit (well a ...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Really enjoying your thread showing progress on your layout 'Shawhurst'. Another good example of what can be achieved in a relatively small area. I like the way you've used the retaining walls as part of the back scene. Very effective. Although born and brought up deep in Midland Railway territory I...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Thanks very much for bringing us up to date with your excellent layout. When exactly did you start actual construction of baseboards - around 2008 or ? Apart from the cattle dock what else do you have in mind to do? Thanks for the comments Ex-Pat much appreciated. I think I probably would have star...
