Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Thanks for the comments guys (mikem64 & thebritfarmer) they are always appreciated. The canal still needs a few essential additions such as an angler and those dogs need an owner to keep them under control. I always think the little details take a layout to another level and can contain lots of ...

16 Ton Mineral Wagons Weathered. Looks like I need more practice. The grime needs a bit more of a solid finish rather than the spray look its ended up with and the rust needs to be applied with a thinner brush. Still I can always wash it off and start again. IMG_1048.JPG IMG_1055.JPG IMG_1058.JPG

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Made it to the Great Central Model Event on Friday. Wife drops me at Kettering station. Half an hour north and I'm at Loughborough. Ten minutes or so walk and I'm at GCR. All for about £13.00 return with the trusty Senior Railcard. It was a good show as usual (It's only the third one they've organis...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

The Vicar's going to be pleased, wherever he is. At last he's had a delivery of gravestones. So now the long deceased of Petersdale can RIP. Off to the Great Central Model Event on Friday to see if I can find the Vicar on one of the trade stalls (plus some Parishioners and the owner of the 2 dogs on...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Hi all. Well progress has been a little slow on Petersdale just lately, but here's a few pictures of the little additions I've made. The Vicar has been assured that there will be a delivery of gravestones sometime this week. IMG_1004.JPG IMG_1009.JPG IMG_1011.JPG IMG_1017.JPG Hopefully the next upda...

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Thanks flying scotsman123; The full cost including return insured postage was £43.50. This included: removing early crests on tender and refitting late crests, diagonal lines applied, fitting of parts pack supplied with engine when new, real coal added to tender and the full weathering service. Jim...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

PROFESSIONAL LOCO WEATHERING Hi guys, didn't really know where to put this so I thought I'd just stick it on the end of my layout thread. Now that PETERSDALE is at an advanced stage in it's construction (laughs quietly) my thoughts have turned to my rolling stock. We can buy some excellently detail...

Re: Garden shed do I or don't I?

Hi Yeoman. I've had experience of both building a layout in a loft and shed. The current version of PETERSDALE is in my 'layout shed' that I purposely built for it. My first version of Petersdale was in the loft of a house I lived in way back in the mid 80s. There are pros and cons with both situati...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Only recently realised that I do not actually have a Vicar for the Church. I'd better put him on top of my People Figures wanted list. Don't forget the church cat! :D The church is really starting to bed in nicely into it's surroundings. Thanks End2end Thanks for that. Much appreciated. I'm not goi...

The Vicar's asked me to bring you up to date pictorially with progress at St. Peter's. IMG_0966 - Copy.JPG Red Vauxhall Wyvern. Classic green Morris Minor Traveller (no 50s/60s layout should be without one of these iconic cars). Black Ford Popular with windscreen sun visor. Grey Mark 1 Land Rover (A...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Thanks for the comments guys (The Chief, Pointstaken and Tractor37). They are much appreciated. I totally agree with you Chief. Way back when Petersdale version 1 was under construction back in the mid 80s I used a few Superquick kits (they don't seen to have changed at all over the years). For the ...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Off to the Derby exhibition tomorrow in search of churchyard related items (and see the layouts of course).
It's being held in the refurbished roundhouse of the Old Derby Works which is now part of a college.
Was a very good show last year and of course it's literally the train straight to the door.

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Further progress has been made in St. Peters churchyard. IMG_0892 - Copy.JPG IMG_0901 - Copy.JPG IMG_0917 - Copy.JPG As can be seen paving has been laid and weathered to make it look used. Random patches of weed are growing in the gaps of the paving. The churchyard has a base layer of scatter. Next ...
