Re: My first ever model railway build.

Good evening all. Just before I shoot of for a meal with my wife, I thought I would put a couple of snaps showing a little more work on the farm. I'm quite happy with how it's looking, I'd like to think the fields look realistic enough. The tractor divots on the field going onto the yard was somethi...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Marcus This is looking promising. During your hunt for trees try : https://www.themodeltreeshop.co.uk/model-railways/n-gauge-products.html Their products fill ParkeNd and are scattered all over Trouve. They may not be the cheapest, but the really look the part and at about £1.50 ish each, I think t...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Hi all. Spent a few hours on the build today. The farm had some new arrivals from the local livestock market, some cows, Horses, sheep, and are settling in nicely. I've enjoyed starting to bring the farm to life, but even at this early stage, I realise I have a long way to go getting it to how I wou...

That's looking really really good. Makes me have re-think about what I'll be doing on 3rd board. :D

Just read through the entire thread and really impressed! Your attention to detail is amazing. Very much looking forward to future updates. Hi Robert. Re: My first ever model railway build.

I do like things like a gate laying the weeds ...... Not said anything before, but coming on so very well. Geoff T. Thx D1 Loving the build. Farm will be my biggest challenge so far because it's so prominent on the layout. Having Said that, the station and surrounding area will probably push my ski...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Hi Marcus. Looking good around the farm area, especially the lane. What make are the gates and fences you're using? RailywayRobbo Pete Hi. The fences are Ratio. The gates are made by a local chap near me who makes these using a laser printer, it's his intention to put them out for general sale once...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

:hellosign: Finished work a little early today so I thought I would have a couple of hours working on the layout. I've had ago on the small lane leading from the yard to the ménage, surprising how long just a small section can take to try and get it looking half decent. Got a 3am start in the mornin...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

I have researched this a great deal, and come to form an opinion, of the element your discussing, PVA glue is hard, so binds gravel and forms a sound bridge back to the board! The answer is to use diluted Copydex, as it hardens only to a rubbery consistancy Interesting test http://s374444733.websit...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Hi all. Just a quick question about ballesting. I realise that about 70% of my layout has been ballasted, with first board track sitting on 4mm underlay. When I came to ballasting board 2, I secured directly without underlay because when I test ran my loco on first board with underlay it ran quiete...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Like the farm a lot. That's the only regret I have about my layout 'PETERSDALE' that I didn't have room to put a farm somewhere. I didn't want to squeeze farm buildings into a limited space and take away the open rural look I wanted to achieve. Looking forward to seeing yours progress. Metcalfe kit...
