Re: My first ever model railway build.

ugh! :D After nearly 18 feet I've finally finished painting the sky. It's not perfect by a long shot but it does look like what it's supposed to. I can now get back to concentrating on the finer detailing as well as starting 3rd and final board. I keep putting off tidying the wires under the board, ...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Morning all. After a great relaxing Easter break, I decided I would get back to messing around with the sky. After various methods and attempts, I thought "sod it" and went for it. It's on there now, so no going back, unless I painted over it and started again. finally got around to starti...

Re: My (N gauge) table football layout!

Would it be possible to have an updated full layout picture please PNP? Happy to oblige :D 1) General view: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1629/25187478864_d0d7edac5e_c.jpg IMG_5992 by Pink Nosed Penguin , on Flickr 2) Fiddle yard and undeveloped part of the layout: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Agree it looks better - nice concrete effect. I like the well-trodden 'path' to the signal box 8) I wasn't sure if I should put a wall behind each of the supports creating "tunnels" for each of the tracks. It's still my hope on 3rd board to create an upper level similar to what you have a...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

:hellosign: As mentioned earlier, I have revisited parts of the layout I felt could be better. One of the areas was the entrance/ exit on the upper street scene level. The opening and height were to large so I reduced this by approx 12mm. Although not perfect, I'm much happier with how this looks no...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

Back to the sky, - if you have PHPBB set up with the standard "Prosilver" colour scheme the palest of the blue/grey backgrounds fading as you go up to the grey that is is used for a quote within a quote. If you are happy to settle for an overcast day you could paint the whole lot in that ...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

I've been largely quiet on this thread, but watching none the less  Its a very large project for a first model railway but I must say your pulling it off. Going back a couple of pages to the farm, who makes the horses you've used? They look good. The whole layouts coming on well scenically. P...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

a little 'Turneresque' :) That's what I thought. Almost like i'd seen it before...... Couldn't knock me up a quick Mona Lisa could you please Marcus? :D I think the sky behind the clouds maybe looks a bit too turquoise but that could be the picture and perhaps a little more white around the edges o...

Re: My first ever model railway build.

[quote="Dad-1"]Errrr, one of our more famous artists. He has a liking for bright and in many ways outrageous colours. Trees in red, orange, and to be honest some of it works. Have a look at 'Hockney Landscapes' on line. Be bold I suppose is the answer - just not certain about the question ...

I like something different, although it's difficult to visualise until
it's in place.
Please don't do a Hockney ....... yet some part of me say's why not ?

Geoff T.
I may regret this but what's a "Hockney"?

Re: My first ever model railway build.

:hellosign: Hi chaps. Just looking for an opinion. I am not an artist by a long shot but have been messing about with various techniques trying to create a "sky" I didn't really want blue sky with white fluffy clouds because I didn't think it would fit in with the industrial look of my lay...

We all do it, we concentrate for ages on one area of the build, then look up and remember the rest of the layout. :)

I for one had forgotten just how deep this first section was :)

Lovely stuff
