Re: Bill's New Extension. ----Update.

Some of the old hands are still around. Nice to see some of those old names still current.

On a sadder note, I lost my wife of over 40 years about 6 months ago. Model railways have kept my sanity and provided a reason for pushing on, so perhaps making an effort in this direction may help.

Re: Parky's Way - 009

I think you've done a great job there. The layout admittedly is simple, and idiosyncratic, but I found it much more interesting than some of the stock GWR terminus layouts. If this were at an exhibition I would probably spend more time looking at this than at the other layouts put together. Carry on...

Really top class modelling there. Even if your buddy doesn't feel like joining here, photos of his achievements would inspire a lot of us on here.

Re: Return to modelling after 20 year break

My own impression is that Jon_1066 layout is much better in that it does not look over crowded with track unlike your first scenario. You need to consider your ability to access all parts of the layout for maintenance and or derailments etc. Don't fill up every possible space, bearing in mind this i...

Recipe for workshop tea - the proportions are determined empirically by the angle of the spoon in the liquid. When truly vertical (by using a spirit level) the liquid is at the correct strength.

Re: Where to draw the line

I never had any bond with my father. so your son is lucky. Will you let a few minor damaged items impair the bond between you ? I'd suggest that strengthening that bond will pay huge dividends in future years, when the minor damage of now will pale into complete insignificance. Enjoy your children n...

A jolly useful tip, thank you.

(PS Are you sure the "ear splitting screams" came from the disc drives and not from the girls in the secretarial office ?)

There are some very nice scenic bits on there, for example, in the last photo above. Keep at it, Monty - I think you're on to a winner !

Being American orientated in my model railway choice, I would not buy these locos. But if I were (very) interested, I would be the same colour green as the locos with envy. They do look to my eye rather splendid models.

Re: How much glue?

May I suggest that you wear a disposable boiler suit or similar while you are using it. They can be thrown away when you are finished, and probably cheaper than trying to get it cleaned after you are done.
