2015 hornby class 50

I just wondered if anyone is looking forward to the forthcoming class 50 'Ajax' and 'Vanguard'. I'm going to pre-order Vanguard.

These locos look superb in my humble opinion :D :)

What do you all think of them?

Re: beginners question re 'runaround' loops

Many thanks Stuart, and a big thank you to everyone who replied to my query, your knowledge is much appreciated. I might even get round to actually building a layout some day soon ! :)

Re: beginners question re 'runaround' loops

Thanks guys. I am not going to model that layout, I just used it as an example for my 'runaround' query.

I do really like Ashburton Station so I may copy that layout. :)

Re: beginners question re 'runaround' loops

Many thanks Jim, seems so simple ! (lovely locos those)

However...the loco pulls the coaches into the platform in reverse ! surely an express train would not be pulling into a station in reverse?

beginners question re 'runaround' loops

Guys, in this example below, the text states "The short passing loop means the layout lends itself to pickup goods trains, and the arriving locomotive can run round the train before shunting wagons or receiving water and coal" http://www.freetrackplans.com/644-Micro-Terminus.php What I don...

Re: Rookie 6ft x 2ft layout

Also John, I don't think your layout design is hornby, as I you have a 3 way junction track piece, and your train in the station is not parallel with the tracks. There must be a derailment !

I do like you design though, but I cannot replicate it with the hornby track I have.

Re: Rookie 6ft x 2ft layout

In John's layout, I cannot see how you can get the loco into the run around to then pull out the coaches from the station. I thought the whole point of a runaround is so the loco can pull a train into a station, unhook, then enter the runaround so that the loco is then at the front of the coaches ag...

Hi Chris, I really appreciate your comments, but I must admit that I am confused by what you mean !

Any way you can draw what you mean?

I already have 2 x 0-4-0s so they will fit the bill presently.

Rookie 6ft x 2ft layout

Guys, I have read the excellent article on this website re shelf layouts, and thought I would have a go. I am sure this is not "correct" in real terms but as a total novice, with limited space I have decided to give up on an oval layout and instead have a more interesting shunting yard and...
