23 points and 2 loco's came in via mail order ...

Past Wednesday an order for 21 points and 13 buffers was placed at www.ehattons.com , a UK company. Order processing and shipping from UK to the Netherlands went very smooth … the package was delivered next day. I combined the points into the 6 'junctions streets' that I need. With some points it wa...

Some layout mods

A couple of important changes have been made to the layout. First, a few points needed to be moved. They were placed exactly on top of wooden bars under the table, which would have made it impossible to properly install the servo drives. Second, the connection of the industry tracks has been changed...

Flex rail and tight corners

Chris, thx for your feedback. The tightest curve on the layout has a 500 mm radius. A test layout has been laid and all went well there, so I reckon I'll give it a go.

Painful to the eye?

Thx for the encouraging feedback. Hehe, Geoff, the South West corner of the room was deliberately not on the picture! However ... even that looks quite tidy compared to some of the 'environments' that can be seen here and there. Yeah, I like a tidy start. I think it'll become more messy all by itsel...

The table is ready

This morning the final screw was tightened in the table ... it is finished! A green soft board layer is added, which should take care of some sound damping. And as a 'finishing touch' a border is mounted along the entire edge. Next thing on the agenda is to lay some track. When I have any track that...

Track fixing

Today a few more steps have been made. First, the green top layer of 7mm soft board is placed. Pictures follow later this week. Then a test has been performed with track fixing. I do not like to glue. I like to keep the option open to change the layout, or maybe even start all over again with anothe...

Re: Rudys Model Railway

Well, Terrier, thx for your encouraging reply! Of course I followed the link and had a peek at your 'handbag weathering project'. I must say ... the result of that project is astonishing! The use of the mascara and the vitamin B and E nail polish remover made me rofl of course! :) Yes ... using make...

Bad weather(ing)

Almost did not dare post my first weathering experiences here. But then ... not every story is a success story. My first weathering attempts were not more than that ... an attempt. Oh well ... one has to start somewhere. :) Link to some really bad weathering pictures: On the positive ... I was able ...

This website has quite a lot of info:

Alas navigating the site is not top notch. A lot of info is available if you look via the sitemap.

Arduino's in series as an S88 occupancy detector interface:

A new video is out on the use of multiple Arduino's in series as an S88 occupancy detector interface. Link to the video and to the software download. http://up.picr.de/20275128sq.jpg The software contains just 4 short chapters: 1. From office to model railway hobby room

Yesterday some good progress has been made ... the tables are placed. I really have to thank hobby club friend Richard. Without his help it would not have been possible to accomplish this. The two pictures show the metamorphosis. A few more pictures can be found on the blog via this link. The tables...

Rudys Model Railway

To make space to set up the tables for the layout, 2 large bureau tables need to be sold first. In the mean time some investigative work has been done on how to mount the servo drives for the points under the table. There are many ways to do it ... this is possibly one of the simplest and cheapest w...

The layout tested with EEP-X

Based on some useful and constructive forum feedback, a few more revisions have been made to the layout. Also a small turntable has been added, where the locs that are going to pull the cargo trains out of the terminals can be turned around. Traffic wise, I decided on having 2 'Intercity' trains. Th...

Arduino as DCC servo / function decoder or as S88 in

The past few weeks I've posted some articles on my blog on using an Arduino as a DCC decoder or as an S88 occupancy detection interface. Video's show the workings and also the software is available for download. Arduino as a combined DCC servo- and function decoder (software included) Arduino DCC se...
