Re: Correct OO scale people and vehicles

The bus in your photo was an OOC (Corgi) casting. The only reason I mention this is that the construction is a little different to the EFE standard, where the silver poles through the bus can be seen underneath fixed with plastic plugs, which are easier to remove and open up the bus. AHH :!: :!: Th...

Re: Correct OO scale people and vehicles

Can I ask, have you added figures inside an EFE bus before Bufferstop and if so which make of figures did you use?
Thanks

Re: Correct OO scale people and vehicles

Hmm I don't think I have a counter sinking bit, so will add that to the "tools needed" list :).
After looking more closly at the bottom of the EFE bus it seems as there may have been 2 screws at one time as well as the rivet and odd 2 other things that look like flat rivets??
Thanks

Re: Correct OO scale people and vehicles

Thanks for the reply Bufferstop. Ahh it seems I have found another of those weird nuances to our hobby. Last night I dug out all the vehicles I have (24 plus a bulldozer) and here is my synopsis. Cararama are the same company as Hongwell and the scale on the box states 1:72 - Riveted together ...

Correct OO scale people and vehicles

I have so far gathered a few different vehicles and people for my layout but some seem out of scale to others. Does any one have the definitive guide on correct OO (rather than HO) scale vehicle and people manufacturers? I have in my collection vehicles from cararama, hongwell, EFE, Lledo Days Gone ...

AHH! now I see what you mean about the ends after finally managing to find a picture of a real one from a view that shows them!. Most are from the front end. I stand corrected! and have to agree with Bufferstop's point "could easily be removed by the modeller", seeing as they...

Were they these ones by any chance... http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODY4WDUwMA==/z/vuEAAOSwPhdVCWqp/$_57.JPG As I have them in my watch list, thinking of buying them, and the seller states " Attach the resistor to the Red wire and attach this to the + on your PSU “12 volts” attach the Black wire to...

If I remember correctly, one of the starter sets had a point around the £250 price mark.

Lovely shot of the layout too Emettman.

Re: Could anyone recommend a good guide to Garden Railways?

Just a note of point. I found myself at the Gaugemaster shop last weekend and saw that a larger scale trainset suitable for indoor or outdoor (I think it was either O or G although, they had a few) was roughly the same price as a OO gauge sound equipped loco - around £220 - £260. Just thought it mig...

You would have thought so Todvidious. Harrods had thier own large multistorey Thames-side depository where a relative worked many many years ago before I was born. http://www.storage.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Boat_Race_Harrods_Depositary2.jpg http://www.thames-path.org.uk/images/20080217...

Re: couplings

I have the same problem, with rolling stock from Bachmann, Hornby, Lima, GMR to name a few. What I decided on was magnets buried in the track for the non magnetic hooks (Bachmann usually, adding a staple to the coupling hook) and a "magnet on stick" method for the metal couplings. I'm yet ...

Yes your spot on about the ratio kit flying scotsman123. From the air, it looks as if the kit was modelled on this very shed. :!: :)

Re: A new start in Finescale OO: NSR Stone junction station

Thanks End2End, that's the second time I've seen reference to an engine shed, are you sure you don't mean the goods shed? The signal box was originally situated elsewhere on the station site (I forget precisely where) so it may well be the original signal cabin, which would be interesting to see. S...
