Re: Hornby grafitti coach

I wonder if it is possible to try to scan the graffiti on the side, print it onto transfer paper and reapply it over the weathering, laying your own weathering over the top to suit? The coach sides not being exactly flat I am not sure if it possible. Or I wonder if Hornby do a spares transfer sheet ...

Re: Hornby grafitti coach

As far as I remember grafitti, and I mean proper graffiti art not " JOE BLOGS WAS ERE " tags took off in the early 1980's along with hip hop. It may stem further back but I don't remember any proper stuff until then..... And I lived just down the road from (at the time) squalid tag covered...

Re: Peco and Hornby Track problems

Sorry I forgot to mention, the IPA (Isopropanol Alcohol ) needs to be the 99% pure version not the 70% pure version. Like this stuff:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Isopropanol-99-9-Pure-IPA-Isopropyl-Alcohol-ACS-LAB-Grade-Choose-from-5-Sizes-/331584512478?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item4d3...

Re: Peco and Hornby Track problems

Hi David and welcome to the forum :) Some things I would suggest.... Check the fishplates that connect between the hornby and peco track. As the only electrical connection to the next piece of track along they need to be as good as they can be. If they have "flared" you can squeeze them to...

Re: Railroad TTS Class 47

I fitted a bass reflex speaker to a Bachmann Deltic once and that improved the sound spectrum quite considerably. Having seen the size of the speaker in the TTS 47 I was quite impressed but I doubt that the sound could be improved unless one used a better sound decoder. Thanks for the practical bac...

Re: Railroad TTS Class 47

Actually going back to my first thought on 2 speakers, perhaps a crossover could be added in line between the decoder and the speakers, seperating the frequency range into 2 so only 1 speaker plays say 20Hz - 5000Hz (5KHz) and the 2nd only plays 5000Hz (5KHz) to 20,000Hz (20KHz). Of course this freq...

Re: Railroad TTS Class 47

I wonder then if an enclosure could be made with traps / ports? Like sound system speakers. Ones like this sort of.... https://prolight.co.uk/images/media/SPEA55/SPEA60-wf0.jpg Albeit these are real sized speaker enclosures. By using a porting system it would beef up the sound somewhat by removing s...

Re: Railroad TTS Class 47

I'm a virgin when it comes to DCC sound, so excuse the possible stupid question but can the decoder not be "re-blown" i.e. change the sounds on it to something more realistic with possibly better bitrate. I'm assuming the sounds are mp3 files. If this is the case I personally wouldn't use ...

Re: Struggling with ballasting N-gauge layout

Use normal pva mixed with water around a 50/50 mix with a drop of washing up liquid in it. It sounds like the stuff you are using is not penetrating the ballast enough thus lifting it. Or perhaps your "misting mix" does not have enough washing up liquid in it? But again I think its down to...

May I suggest, if you have the ability, to record a short video of it proving to the seller what a pile of rural field rugs it actually is.

Re: A cuckoo in the nest

Taking a stab in the dim light (rather than the dark because I think I am correct). One thing not mentioned was to remove the capacitor.
As far as I am aware, you do not need the capacitor as it will interfere with the decoder.

Re: Advice on new layout project needed

Hi and welcome nightswimming :) I wanted a tunnel but just can't fit it in. What about on the bottom right hand baseboard? You can fit a modest tunnel there and keep it to 1 board only so no worries about the tunnel having to "spread" across mutliple boards. I think watching the train flow...
