Re: DCC or DC? What to do, what to do.

I will point out the obvious here.... If you own 36 loco's   , I think you'd know how to install decoders yourself reducing a little of the cost, and of course, not all decoders cost £34. Still a large outlay though and if there's one thing that most hobbies require, it is the large ...

Re: Glue, paint and primer...

For grey primer you can get it for £1 at , yes you guessed it £ville. I tried it and although it was darker that I thought it would be it didn't matter as it's just an undercoat. Here is my first try on some linka test peices I made up out of Herculite modellers powder/plaster. http://www.newrailway...

Re: Alex's ''Hermione Isle'' Locomotive Works

I am way too inexperienced a modeller to use things like an airbrush let alone own one. (Although I get rattle can paints free from film studio model workshops via nepitism lol) So my way of doing silver (or gold/brass or copper come to that) is to use EDDING pens. They work on glass, metal, plastic...

Re: Hermione Isle- an overlooked principality

Just a suggestion Alex, but when I was building my 2nd studio I made a paper plan with all "furniture" items as loose peices of paper that I could move around on top of the floor plan peice of paper. The "furniture" peices (in my case double bed / 7 foot high rack / studio desk a...

Re: DCC or DC? What to do, what to do.

Let's face it, with some things there's always those that blindly think that if it is the latest gimmick, and it costs a lot of money, then it must be better than anything else, but let me tell you sucker, it aint that way. This takes me back to 2 times in my life. First was when my older brother b...

Re: Bamboozled

I've soldered a million and 1 wires in my time. (Recording studios, TV and film editing facilities and AV installations) The quickest and easiest way I have found is... Tin all that will be soldered Get a blob of solder on the soldering iron and use this to solder the 2 parts together. By using it j...

Re: DCC sound decoders - faulty and customer service

When I get this kind of treatment from a company, they get a stern email detailing my grevience then they are told in no short terms "I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANYTHING ELSE FROM YOU AND WILL BE INFORMING OTHER PEOPLE OF MY EXPERIENCES AND NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU!" . Then I DO NOT buy a...
