Re: Reusable, modular layout base in N-gauge

Great to see some monoliths of buildings on a layout for a change.
Just thinking on your waprng problem, would spray adhesive / fixative be any better than pva?
Thanks

Re: Has the torrent of new RTR OO suppliers halted?

I suppose what may change though might be the methods of production for smaller volume productions. Improvements in resin casting and 3D printing obviate the need for expensive tool making. Perhaps the smaller suppliers would go down that route? Tony I fell down a shapeways rabbit hole for 3 hours ...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

That's the plan Bufferstop except that once I have aligned 2 baseboards and drilled and added the baseboard connecting bolts (with washers and wing nuts, instead of dowels) I need to disconnect the baseboards to add the legs to the front and rear boards. It would have been easier to add all the legs...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Last weekend I managed to get 2 out of the 4 baseboards constructed. They are 57 inches long, waist height and quite unwieldy but nothing compared to the front and rear boards still left to do at 8 foot a piece. My idea is to stand one of the 57 inch side baseboards upright on it's end with ...

I need to find 3D / relief lettering suppliers for signs

I would like some 3D lettering to add to various buildings but cannot seem to find any. I found modelrailwayscenery used to make some but the magazine I found the article in is 3 years old and I cannot find them on thier website. Are there other manufacturers who make letter sets? They need to have ...

Re: Hornby flogging another dead horse

Oh yes I see now.
Looking at it as a brand rather than a passed fad (HP not Hornby) definatly puts a different light on it.
And in that vein, Bachmann must be rubbing thier hands together with the Thomas franchise.
Thanks again for the comments.

After reading all posts in this thread I'd summerise by saying... luxury goods will always demand luxury prices.
Hobbies definatly fall into that catagory.

Re: Hornby flogging another dead horse

Thanks for enlightening me members. To be honest, working in the film industry, this franchise is well and truly dead apart from the semi-permanent building used for the spin off film. Although that is due to be demolished soon too. It's at Longcross Studios. You can see it (for the time bein...

Hornby flogging another dead horse

I received an email today from Hornby and thier new Harry Potter items. After a quick check I found that the final Harry Potter film was released 11 (YES ELEVEN) years ago. Why are Hornby flogging another dead horse? This smells like the Olympics set released ages after the event which (if I underst...
