Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

John, I would like to ask you a simple question. You have a 'folded' figure of eight layout. Do you feel this works in practice / lengths of trains versus gradients /aestetically etc? I have a similar space to you and and am torn between a folded 8 and separate upper and lower circuits with a centr...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Hi All, Thank you for the comments it's very encouraging to get that response when I still consider myself a modelling newbie striving to get good clean effects, if you know what I mean. To answer one of the questions about joining the tarmac sections, I make sure I use a new scalpel blade to get a ...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the comments. I believe the station will bed down properly once I glue it to the platform. The platform top is slightly "bowed" in places because of the thin card and may require a few more cross braces under the station area. As it is now if I put a little pressure o...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Hi All, Another little update of phase 2 of the station rebuild. This is a platform made from Scalescenes platform system. Firstly the frame work is put together all made from 2mm card and checked for size with my worst widest locos, one of them being an 08 shunter of all things! The platform base w...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Is it really all in a space of 9.5ft by 8ft? Or is your shed really a certain blue Police box that appears to come and go? :) Loconut Thanks Loconut, It has grown a little since the first plan. The shed was there when I bought the house and for some reason it is not perfectly square. Therefore the ...

Re: Pithead Wheel

If you can do that it makes me wonder why you asked the original question in the first place about where to source the wheels  Are you accepting orders :D
Nice work.

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Here is the new station so far and on the layout to see how it fits. Next job is to make a new platform for the extended lines. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/JohnGeeeee/P5053288med.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/JohnGeeeee/P5053291med.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p19...

Re: Pithead Wheel

I did not find anything for the exact purpose when I was looking for the same thing 12 months ago. What I did purchase was some plastic wheels for a "horse and cart" which appear regularly on Fleabay, see here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Moulded-wheels-2-sm-2-Large-model-carts-etc-/360255101329?...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Many thanks Grotland. When I get the layout in a working condition again, rather than half finished jobs all over the place, I will try some shunting with the Wagcam and really produce some video nasties :D

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Wow!! It's been a while since I last posted anything on my layout. I have still been working on it, mainly having a rethink about the main terminus station. I have extended the main platform lines to add an extra crossover at the end for a run around loop. I realised that I think I had the previous ...

Re: Road surfaces

I am going to give Scalescenes printed roads a try. I tried black card weathered with powders but after 12 months the card all bubbled and now looks a right mess. I had stuck this down with spray adhesive. I am going to rip it up and try Scalescenes roads stuck onto thick card with stick glue and th...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Hello John G, All 3 ran as "smooth as silk", the only problem being the operator with his hand on the control labelled FAST - VERY FAST and UNBELIEVABLY FAST :) Very nice, John, keep-up the good work, Kind Regards, Michael Thornberry. At first I thought that read "FAT - VERY FA...
