Re: If they had the technology

As with one of the previous comments, I would like a full wrap around live video backscene with matching surround sound that followed the loco around the layout, country scenes , tweating birds, town scenes , motor noise, church bells, station and shed noises, industrial scenes, let us put a layout ...

Re: Opinion please - am I being unrealistic?

looks uneven to me but I am not an expert on what it should look like, was there any indication what it should look like when you ordered the work to be done? Otherwise I love the lettering!! Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Hi Mike, a new fan then after 3.5 hours studying my work , thank you for looking. Here some more pics of the platform after some more brush work. This is after some washes of burnt umber and black. The base has also been started but needs more dirty washes before its ready. Its hard to show the actu...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Painting the platform has started and I thought I would give Tamiya acrylics a try, medium grey XF-20 for a base concrete slab colour. Ever had one of those "what have I done!" modelling moments. It definately will need another coat but those small bottles don't go far! I hope the dirtying...

Re: Kadee couplings

I have them on most of my stock. More modern stuff is easier to fit when they have NEM pockets. It takes a bit of experimentation to find out which ones work best because of all the different heights and lengths. Make sure you get the Kadee height guage at least so that every fitting is consistent. ...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Thanks for all the kind comments. Here are the final pics of the station, well I think it's finished I can't think of anything else I need to do? The next session will be to re-skin the platform. Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

The roof is now tiled and just needs some flashing. Chimney pots in place and now starting to add some guttering. Nearly at the end I think, funny how the final details seem to take the longest messing about. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/JohnGeeeee/DSCN2099med.jpg http://i128.photobucket....

Re: St Enoch Glasgow and others B&W Pics

Well Thanks Jim, What a fast response, it took me longer than that to find out some were St Enochs considering I had never heard of it, not that I am much of a railway historian  I must say that I find some peoples knowledge on railways fantastic and wish I had paid more attention to these th...

St Enoch Glasgow and others B&W Pics

A good friend of mine who lives in Scotland (Thanks Wayne T) sometimes sends me railway related goodies that he comes across in a local weekly auction. He has sent me some old black and white photos which on investigation seem to include some old snaps of the last days of St Enoch station in Glasgow...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

The brickwork has had a few brown washes until various bricks start to look like they have picked up a few years of dirt, but not too much: http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/JohnGeeeee/DSCN2095med.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/JohnGeeeee/DSCN2096med.jpg Then its had some creamy w...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

First coat of paint gone on. A solid stone colour. Once dried overnight it will be drybrushed with burnt sienna and then a milky cream coloured wash to put the morter back in and to tone it all down. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/JohnGeeeee/DSCN2092med.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/album...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Another evening of being re-bitten by the modelling bug. The outside of the station is now re-skinned in stone. I think I need to tidy up some of the window cavities with some filler. The cills and lintels need adding and then the painting can start. Wifey thinks it looks better left in "whitew...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Thanks Buz, yes expansion is always a growing problem :D I still reckon I can fit a fiddle yard or sector plate onto the end of the terminus, maybe for another day. Hera are some pics of the station makeover so far: Using part of the scalescenes as templates. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p195/...
