Railway shops near Hertfordshire / Essex

Hi all,

I am looking for some recommendations on good model railway shops in my local area - i live in Bishops Stortford which is on the Hertfordshire / Essex border

ideally somewhere with a good second hand section :lol:

thank you for the help i appreciate it :) I can replace all of the points and make use of the existing ones in the sidings, I might pick up a pair of peco points and experiment before getting all of the points i need for the layout. the live frog versions sound useful but is there anything special i...

is it compatible with normal Hornby track? i already have allot of other track and ideally don't want to have to replace it all ideal situation is just to get the points http://www.alex-wells.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/guide.png this is my basic plan so far - do the peco points match the hornb...

My current set up uses standard Hornby points but they are not as smooth as i would like some of the older trains don't run over them smoothly and my small Hornby 0-4-0 pug gets stuck if it goes to slowly due to its small wheel base? also coaches are prone to derailment when being pushed over them w...

whats the best way of raising track? obvious choice would be Hornby track raisers but is there a better method? especially with it happening over curves
