Re: Dave's Photo thread - Kingmoor Open Day

I was at KM in the morning! Interesting shot of the shed engine.

I concur with Dave, shot into the sun which is directly behind the loco and wall producing the glare which causes the whiteness on the pic.

Re: BrotherWolf's Rly Pics *New 24/06, 66's, Units and 91xx*

Had a chat and it is uniformily agreed that it depends what the steel products are being used for - steel for the construction industry is not so sensitive. Steel coil for the motor industry is very sensitive to moisture as the customer demands a high quality product - hence the need for covered wag...

Feck! - That was probably on the l/e movement I was talking about.

Looking back, my Doncaster move was 05/11/06 - 60049, 60070, 60004, 66096 and 66212.

Re: A few pictures from the South

triple, quad and even a quintet of light locos can be seen just after weekend engineerings or when they move loco en-masse from one yard to another. There used to be a regular movement that went through Doncaster, can't remember where it started but it was heading for Toton. For the south it could b...

Thanks for that Stuart.

Not 100% sure but the open/covered wagon thing could be that the open ones carry slabs of steel ready to be converted into products, whereas the covered carries steel in wire rolls.

Excellent shot of the Holys - sun right side and cab front too! This will be my only freight soon as I move office on Friday!

Nice shots at St Cross and MHR too!

Nice pics - the second shed pic with the darkened sky looks really nice with an interesting foreground.

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

I see you have 158852 from down my way! I have been to March once, it was misty and we couldn't get round the depot! Nice to add a new location to the list and sorry about the test train - there has been no mention of it, so it's possible it was cancelled.
Can you see Whitemoor from the road bridge?

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

If I say so myself, I think they were at least as good as some of those published. Indeed - I didn't bother sending in anything from the open day as I though they'd be swamped with admissions, but I'm sure I turned out pictures to match the standard if not slightly better than some they published! ...

Ooo clack! 66841 in the bag eh Thomas?! :D Strangely enough my brother was at South Tottenham today and texted me to see if it was about - being Mr Gen I was able to tell him and he saw it too! Congrats on the pic in Railway Herald - it's a cracker. The elevated angle (from bridge?) is great, good c...
