SBS "A Slow Summer"

Commencing January 6th, SBS (Special Broadcasting Service) in Australia is screening four documentaries much like the 3-hour Ghan special from many months ago. There are four episodes screening once a week through January. I do not know what order but the documentaries will be the Indian Pacific, Br...

Just a clear plastic packaging to retain the model that fits inside the original Bachmann cardboard packaging. The most common method these days to hold a model.

Re: Tempting fate Taiwan eBay seller

A question on the prototype. It seemed to have done a lot of its railfanning tours in the earlier (pre-1908?) livery and its post 1908 livery at the NRM on exhibition. Did it run on a rail tour in Great Western garter crest livery, please?

Tempting fate Taiwan eBay seller

Inspired by a posting on another site I looked up an eBay seller in Taiwan, "zoeliu2011" and was surprised to see two Bachmann "City of Truro" listed. These are models Bachmann 31-725 NRM and 31-725A NRM. They are supplied in an ice packet, however, no original packaging, documen...

Re: Hornby Sovereign and Signature Collections

I was just thinking. Can you imagine how fantastic a trainset could be if it was an enlarged version of the basic 0-4-0 type set made to retail at around £200. Extra track, wagons, a few 4 wheel coaches and a better DC controller... Sorry, need to disagree. Who would pay GBP200.00 for a trainset wi...

Re: Hornby Sovereign and Signature Collections

Hattons have two of the Sovereign train packs instock, the South Wales colliery set and the Dover Pullman. Reinforcing my earlier thoughts, the packs come in plain brown packaging suggesting that these are simply repackaged older stock. The South Wales pack seems reasonably priced assuming that PO w...

Re: Bachmanns N class, problem

I believe that the derailing is also down to the centre tender axle not having enough vertical movement. I removed the centre axle and using a drill bit I opened up the axle end receptacle in each tender sideframe, allowing the axle to move slightly upwards. The locomotives in that set are also pron...

Re: class T9 chassis rot

Peters Spares do not charge GST on direct "store" purchases. However, the tax collector, eBay, do charge GST on all purchases through their site. As yet I have not paid any GST to Hattons, but then I still use the old website. I believe that an overseas store will only charge GST if it has...

Re: Trouble at 't mill

Seems they have the Atlantics now. Yesterday they were selling the early BR livery version for 28% off, which I believe flies in the face of Bachmann's limited discounting rules (not sure how legal they are anyway!). It's almost like one party is baiting the other? The store has had the BR version ...

Re: class T9 chassis rot

I think there is a clue in the advert title "sold as seen". Bargepole anyone? I buy these train packs for the coaches not the locomotive. As I explained, the loco is basically free. I have rebuilt six of these now so well aware of what I am buying. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If I s...

Re: class T9 chassis rot

I suppose a glutton for punishment as I purchased another Hornby R2813 1938 Suburban train pack with the problematic T9 #312 Southern olive green locomotive. I am a fan of the little olive green greyhound. All up cost including airmail delivery was GBP92.43. With coaches in the pack selling for in e...

Matt,
as usual a great job. No reflection on your work, however, the prototype design looks like one of the tinplate toys from the 1930's.

Re: Trouble at 't mill

I wonder how many of the pre-orders on the SR Atlantic have gone to shops already with stock. Beachy Head has been released for sometime now, most likely prior the current "dispute".

Re: Trouble at 't mill

Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Hattons must be Bachmann's largest outlet in the UK. Perhaps in this day of limited production runs the sales from the store are irrelevant.
