Re: Adding 3rd Rail

OK so it's been a while but I've got the bug again to carry on with my layout. I'm going to be adding a 3rd rail soon hopefully and want to get it ordered but I'm not sure how many chairs I will need. Anyone know what the prototypical spacing is? I'm eventually going to have about 12 metres of rail....

Switching locos whilst running with Hornby Select.

At the moment I still have my Hornby Select and it works well as I'm only running 2 locos at a time for now but I've noticed something that 'proper' DCC controller may not suffer from. Basically, when running two trains at different speeds and I want to switch between them, the speed control is set ...

Scalescenes windows tip?

I searched this forum and couldn't find anything related to this so please forgive me if this is so tried and tested that everyone knows it anyway..:) It probably applies to all card type kits. I don't know as I'm only just starting my 2nd ever, which is a Scalescenes and my 'brainwave' avoided lots...

Re: loft layout with no name

I have subscribed :)

You are at a similar stage to me and I love an 80's loft layout.
Well actually you are ahead on the signalling and point motor front...and the scenery..OK not similar at all LOL.
So have you done away with any type of station?

Re: Kingswood Junction (First Layout since 1984)

Thanks. :)

I have no idea about scale speeds but you're right, that 150 certainly moved off a bit sharpish
They're not called Sprinters for nothing I suppose :D

Re: Locomotive LED's

Hi You can use 1.8mm LEDs or if room 3mm type. Both have wire leads. eBay is a good source. Express Model make lighting kits, but I'm unsure if they do anything for an old Mainline loco. Worth a phone call or email perhaps to ask? http://www.express%20models.co.uk/acatalog/ Thanks Flashbang, I'll b...

Re: Locomotive LED's

Hi Steve I'm surprised nobody has come back to you on this. I am a relative newcomer to this subject myself and am still in that learning curve although I have built a DIY DCC system from a circuit shown on the web and this process made me aware of my shortcomings. The question is how good are you ...

Not much happening but bought a new camcorder in anticipation of providing some half decent updates
Just trying it out at the moment.

Locomotive LED's

The only loco I've saved from my youth is my Mainline Class 56.
I'd love to get this on my layout and have a decoder ready and waiting for her but I'd like to add some lights as well.

What type/size of LED's would I need and where would I get them from?

Cheers

Re: Air brush kits

I've got a couple of cans that you can have for free if the postage isn't too much.

EDIT - Yeah postage is only about £3 so assuming you're in the UK you can have em. :)
There are actually 2 and a bit 1000ml cans

Re: 2 track station terminus canopy options.

Thanks. That's one thing I had thought of :) And I'll see if it can be removable in case of any mishaps. As it stands, I've looked at rescaling the roof structure by printing a rough copy of the kit but I've got a bit of an odd station layout with a bay platform half way up. It's not going to physic...

The rule is 800 pixels wide isn't it?
That seems very small in this 'day and age' but how does this guy get round it?
