Re: A New Layout by a Newbie!! Help!

do you suggest I build 3 (or 4 bases depending on plan), then join them together?

Do you think a track mat would be beneficial, and if so could you recommend one if I was to go for the 4 base (loop) design?

Ah, OK super!

I love it when a plan comes together, so I'm gonna get exact measures over the next couple of days and see what I can start doing

Re: A New Layout by a Newbie!! Help!

thats great.. I'd need to work on the track on the right, perhaps add a third siding /shunting line in but it looks good! I take it Mum does not need to crawl under the base to get to the Window, but to walk around the left handside? Can I buy a trackmat/layout for the design you have shown above, o...

Re: A New Layout by a Newbie!! Help!

Building the base is a how long is a length of string question Regards to the window, the board (assuming you are going with the loop layout) next to the window really only needs to be wide enough to accomodate the width of your track. keep the scenics to the left and right, and the two boards para...

Re: A New Layout by a Newbie!! Help!

ah right, ok then PD - i'll give it a go. When building the base, do you recommend I build it as a 3 (or 4) piece, then join/slot it into place? Once I've built the tops (bases), how do I then build attach the legs? The missus has seen the plans but questioned how we'd get to the window to clean, ch...

Re: A New Layout by a Newbie!! Help!

sorry, what is a fiddle yard? *blush* the room width is 480cm - just under 8ft, so take 2 away for gap in middle leaving 3ft either side of room, if using Plan A. How much room does a OO gauge need for a loop? Is there any directions for building such a base like Plan A above, as I'm a little unsure...

Re: A New Layout by a Newbie!! Help!

We are very limited for space, and the only place we could realistically put it is in his bed room, over the t...
