Hornby 2020 Speculation Thread - 100 years of Hornby

I read an interesting post online about next year being significant as it will be 100 years since Frank Hornby's first clockwork train was produced and they speculated that the catalogue (out January 6th 2020) and its contents might reflect this. How? I don't know. I'm a month early probably to post...

Re: Beaglington-On-Sea 00 gauge in 6ft by 4ft

It looks to me like you have a good plan. It’s strange that most seaside places have a sackful of pubs. Thanks, I live in Waterville in rural South West Kerry at the tip of the Iveragh Peninsula, and yet we are ranked 3rd or 4th highest in pubs to people ratio. There's about 10 or twelve places, so...

Nice start. I'll be following this with interest. Where did you find your goods shed ? Thanks. GOODS SHED.JPG It's a Superquick card kit, it has been battered about a bit and may end up being replaced eventually. I was going to upload more yesterday but my laptop decided it s Windows 7 operating sy...

Re: Beaglington-On-Sea 00 gauge in 6ft by 4ft

I'm going to attempt to post some progress now, starting with a few pics of the rough track plan set up: 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg And here's a little photo of 'E.R.M.' who is usually on hand when building my layouts. 7.jpg I'm going to resize some more photos to show how much further I have got. Thanks, Al...

Re: Beaglington-On-Sea 00 gauge in 6ft by 4ft

So, time for the first proper update, Since moving to Ireland I have built various baseboards for my layouts myself, and quite frankly I'm getting tired of it, and I decided that If I'm going to build a permanent layout that is going to last me the next ten years or so (until it needs refreshing) I ...

Re: Beaglington-On-Sea 00 gauge in 6ft by 4ft

First up I will start with the plan, I spent a long time trying to figure out what I want to achieve this time around, and trying to make a compromise where needed, in the end I decided that, while I could have a siding at the front of the layout leading to a goods shed and a loco spur/engine shed, ...

Beaglington-On-Sea 00 gauge in 6ft by 4ft

Greetings once again from the Island of Siddington, a large Anglo-Irish Island uncertain of its true geographical position, and this time I welcome you to Beaglington-On-Sea! Named after our former ginger cat Beagueen, Beaglington-On-Sea (pronounced B-yug-ling-ton ) is a new version of a layout I bu...

Re: The Great Model Railway Challenge

Flip sake 5 keep rearranging the schedule making it earlier and earlier, I missed last weeks episode because stuff was clashing and I'd already missed half by the time I got home and then had to sort out dinner, this week I will probably miss it because it is going to be on too early, if the final ...

Re: A permanent 00 layout at last?!

The benefit of having time to contemplate my designs means I can try and produce something that I can be happy with. I kept feeling like the layouts I had designed would be fairly cramped so I had a go at designing something a little less packed. I'm not saying that I'd definitely opt for this but i...

Re: Hattons Announces 4 and 6 wheel coaches

Great idea from Hattons, although it's odd that there are no LBSCR liveries listed seeing as there are three LBSCR livered RTR loco's available at the moment (4 if you count the many second-hand E2's out there). I actually had this thought over my coffee just now and came to see if it had been said...

Hattons Announces 4 and 6 wheel coaches

As part of something called Project Genesis Hattons Model Railways have announced with over 300 variations, priced roughly above the £30 these won't be available until 2021, time to get saving?

Re: A permanent 00 layout at last?!

I've been having a think and decided I'd add in a 009 tramway, a private-ish line running from the colliery, around the rocks and past the entrance where standard gauge locos come in and then past a siding where coal wagons can be reversed into a gas works siding, then continue on past the station (...
