Re: Hammys DCC 6x4 Progress...

Also, wouldn't the "Queues likely" sign be further from the works? By the time a motorist reads it, they're already pretty much at the front of the queue... :P

EDIT: Though, I have actually seen this IRL a few times, so doesn't necessarily need changing. =)

Re: Gasforth Central: Stage One

I think the slip's a great idea! Thanks very much =) And finally, some actual progress! So, I finally got myself to B&Q this afternoon, and came back with a car full of wood. I'd planned the layout when I had an estate (VW Golf Plus), but since that blew up I'm driving a Nissan Micra, so the 2.4...

My old local too. Neil's the most helpful and knowledgable model-shop-keeper I've met, and the range of stock... wow! A truly great shop! =)

Re: Preserved Loco's with Fictitious Liveries

Somehow that livery looks not too bad on steam locos. Doesn't look "right", but looks good.

Ah, found a similar one on FL.

I think the point is you can't just go to one place for everything. Some places do some things cheaper than others. Just shop around, don't rely on one place. =)

Re: class 37 Diesels

Well, according to Wikipedia, 46 have been preserved, 4 are still in use with West Coast Railway Company, and DRS have about 25. EWS have got rid of all of theirs.

As to that articles accuracy, I'm not 100% but it's the best source I've got at the moment. =)

Re: A good heratige railway layout

Also you could deliberately keep a bit of space next to one side of the running track, to make it look like it was formerly a double-track line... At the station, have two platforms, but one with either no track or just a siding for stock storage... Example (of course, this probably wouldn't work to...

Re: Wordsworth - South Fangore Scenic Work Begins

nic what are those carrages where it shows the dead end are they teak ones? Read the 3 Comments previous to your post, and your answer will be answered. I think he means the 3 teak coaches in the same picture as the celestory, but if I'm not mistaken, those are the hornby ones? Great work as always...

It's difficult. By the sounds of it, you want to make every layout-track accessible from every fiddle-yard-track. That will take up some space. If you look at the attachment 1, you'll see there are two ways to do this. The top way (my recommendation) is a very simple idea using Y-points, but for fou...
