Re: Frankland: N gauge Southern Railway
I think Pecos statement is a cop out. I my opinion. A smooth surface is hard to bond to. So to glue down I'd roughen the underside of the sleepers with ie coarse emery paper & score at ~45º with a scalpel. I do have one question Mark. Did you find that ballasting with the usual dilute mix compro...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge
Excellent scratch build of the signal box Jim, loads of fine detailing skill applied to bring it to life. I also love the photos in the last post of the box in situ and the view looking up the line from the platform. A lovely collection of signaling too. Are they prototypical to the layout lines? Do...

Cant believe I haven't posted yet on this little gem.
Excellent attention to detail on the buildings & scenery Sarah, so much in a small space without looking overcrowded. The weathering of your stock is very impressive & doing it by hand too.

Re: Terrys new layout.
Welcome to the boards Terry, I'm not a OO person, but have heard on many occasions from other that hornby points are cr*p Your layout is looking good & will keep an eye out on its progress. Dont worry about the mess, mine if not most ours have tools etc on them. The trick is just to remove them ...

Re: More Detailing.
Fantastic detailing Phil. The different elevation levels of the buildings give a great feeling of height of the topography. The differnt shading & material of the rds & access routes add to the realism of what you've acheived here. Its that good, I cant work it of your working on OO, P4 or O...

Re: Bedroom town
Yep I like SouthernBoys modifiction of your plan, it does have a nice natural flow to it. Though I'd have as well as the rd leading down to the yard. I'd have the bridge leading down over & across the rails at an angle approx 30º to right the right of the vertical, with a junction in the rd with...

Re: My attic layout - Scenery finally started!
Thats an impressive amount of space & track you've put down. Another layout to keep an eye out for. One point though. The rust paint you used appears too orange. Fresh rust is orange but tends to be seen on new rail. The rust on rail of old disused sidings is old & this is more reddy brown. ...

Re: Lord Street Freightliner TMD oo
Some lovely photos of your TMD Dan, some great detaing. I did notice though that the grey ballasting by the portacabins looks like its clumped up. The best way to what I've learnt, is to put a couple of drops washing up liquid in the PVA mix, this helps break the surface tension of the water. Also t...

Have been having a read through, dont know i missed this lovely layout.
Great work on the scratch building of the bridge & the road is cambered too. The lights are great as well. Are they off the shelve Don, or did you make these too?
