Re: Hand made turnouts

Hi Bufferstop. Thanks for the info. For the moment, fastening the point down will be a problem. However I will look into a slide switch as you suggest and see what I can do with that. I did use a plan which I drew up on AutoCAD and printed out. I haven't gotten around to sticking it to wood yet thou...

Hand made turnouts

I have made two turnouts. Well almost. The basics are done. I have a few more sleepers to add but it works ok. DSC00899.JPG My query is, does anyone know of a way to manually change the point so that it stays put. Eventually I would hope to use a point motor but until I get the time and money to bui...

Mixy, excellent work. I've have played around with the shapes and I like it a lot. I'm never going to get any work done now!

Re: Loop with Terminus

My concern was with the gradient between the entrance to the station and the connection to the inner loop. The station is at a higher level (say 80mm above baseboard) and therefore the entrance to same should also be at a higher level. The loop is at a lower level (say 0mm) and therefore so is the c...

Re: My layout still under some light construction

Nice work on the layout. I especially like the signpost. And those (service) boxes just off the main line.

If you add the 'www' to the website name it should work. You should be able to edit your last post if you want.

Re: Loop with Terminus

Unless I'm missing something obvious, I don't think your return loop will work where it is. The height difference would be quite large between the entrance to the yard/station and where the loop meets the inner line. I like the layout of the yard and station though. Okay, I figured I couldn't just l...

Re: Lima Loco Missing Parts

So I seem to have fixed the Class 08. Yes my jaw dropped too. I saved a few bits from the broken diggers and stuff that my kids have (well, technically they don't have them any longer, I do, but hey) and I used a little rod from a digger, cut it to size, put it place and hammered the end so it would...

Re: 2011 Kit Build - City Of Truro

I'd love to do something similar, so I'll be watching this with interest. Can I ask the stupid question. Where did you get the Branchlines set from. I did google the obvious but I just couldn't find anything that resembled what you posted. Can you point me in the right direction please.
Thanks,
Alan.

Re: SCARM - Simple Computer Aided Railway Modeller

I agree that it should be kept simple. However, if you need to use another program (like a spreadsheet) to calculate prices and parts and stock, then adding this to the program would surely increase it's appeal. Assuming, of course, that it doesn't cause a major programming headache. I have a sugges...

Re: Lima Loco Missing Parts

Hi Phipps, I suspected that there should have been a second one but we never had it unfortunately. It does have a gangway door at the other end. I'll have to keep an eye out for one, but, being Lima it's unlikely I suppose. Bigmet, thanks for the detailed description (some of which went over my head...

Lima Loco Missing Parts

After much searching, my dad found our old railway from way back when. It's a bit dusty, to say the least, but the three engine seem to be moving still. A bit intermittently mind you, but i assume that's the track (I gave the wheels a bit of a clean so I think they're ok). The white/cream one is Jou...

Re: New layout!

Did you draw up the plan with XTrkCad. It looks good so far. While I lived in Germany for a while and obviously know of the DB, I wouldn't be very familiar with their trains. The ICE is probably one of my favourites though. Not really the right era however. I look forward to seeing your progress. Al...

Re: Thomas At Silver Fox Island - one for kids to drive

You'll have to stick little shelves inside too, with track on the shelves of course and then it can be a display case too. :D (Only half joking!) . It's looking great. I'm getting excited now.

Re: Advice with new Layout

Martijn, welcome to the forum. Are you looking for peoples opinions on your design. If so then I like it. It looks like it has a good yard to move wagons while trains go round. Just what I'd like to have. I was wondering why there are two crossings/slips in the middle at the bottom, but it had since...
