Foamboard supplier

In response to posts about scratchbuilding many modellers are using foamboard. I did intend using 40thou plastikard but foamboard looks interesting. As I will be attempting this for a station, goods yard etc. but have no experience of this material could fellow modellers appraise me of the following...

For those who have experience what thickness of plasticard do you use for :- Station Buildings,Goods yard building...

Fowler 3MT 2-6-2T

Can any knowledgable person tell me if a Fowler 3MT 2-6-2T (BR lining early/late) has ever been available from RTR or as a last resort kit ?? (no kitbuilding experience) I intend to model the extinct lowgill ingleton branch and nos. 40067,40016 seem to have been the mainstay of the local passenger s...

Re: Oxley Central......

I escaped from Oxley in 1969 to Liverpool Uni and have stayed in the north west ever since. You could call the station Dunstall - (did exist- keep Oxley for the MPD)and was used for Stafford rd works etc and the ECC factory down the road. I can remember going by train from Dunstall to a few air show...

The right stuff

I will be building a garage based layout which will have most probably 2 swappable stations enabling me to do WR and LMR? Tettenhall on the Oxley-Kingswinford branch in 50's to late 60's assuming it never lost its passenger trains and the line was double not single. Also it did commuter services as ...

DC CONTROL

I am returning to the hobby in retirement and have got several of my old Triang & Hornby mothballed locos working even my southern electric; after a good clean (lots of hepful posts on this) and some spares bought. I have Peco code 100 rail and have been using a transformer and single power cont...

Re: Tettenhall station

So I shared my Tettenhall vision with my wife whilst at MRC sunday last and she said "why don't you model Sedbergh that would be more interesting?" This is because her family-Dawson-own the goods yard and railway cutting as was (but not the station) and run the family business out of there...

Re: Tettenhall station

I followed pheasant's ideas and added the crossover and extra trailing slip with a diamond. Diamondsmall.jpg Then did a single slip, I hope positionally these are correct. SINGLE SLIPsmall.jpg The last plan has a double slip (is this allowable??) and the extra one off siding for an agricultural show...

I googled a few places but nobody seems to show the overall length of OO Hornby/Bachmann MK1 coaches with couplings ! As mine are somewhere mothballed in the loft could anybody more knowing give...

Re: Tettenhall station

Thanks for replying .I will do a track plan or two and post back.Prototype layout was never my strongpoint. Would make an interesting branch line model with the track doubled. At the end of its life you saw all sorts of interesting steam locos on it.AFAIR evening star and the odd brit ! pulling frei...

The spare sheet 91A lists the LH assembly as X.808 or could a matching rivet be found? I have spent a while googling but finding s hop that stocks this old spare ? S...

Tettenhall station

As a returnee and retired (therefore newbie) I would appreciate advice on a possible layout for Tettenhall station . The station still exists I grew up in the area and am familiar with the Oxley-Kingwinsford branch and although it was closed to passenger traffic, specials, empty carriage stock and a...
