Re: syncro smoke
The old syncrosmoke is gear driven from the motor to create the 'chuff' through a piston/cylinder totally dependent on the motor voltage applied, and so speed, A higher voltage, and so speed making the heater hotter so smokes better. It may be possible to fit a resistor in the motor feed in an attem...

Re: Coach connectors
Thanks 'Lachlan' but somewhat expensive depending on No. of coaches. Reckon these could be a much cheaper as long as fitted correctly . http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/images/hornby_spares/x8448.jpg 'afraid motto is 'Don't pay others if you can do yourself' Beeman.

Re: diesel sound
If 'they' can't get Diesel to sound OK, then certainly not Steam, 'Don't buy and wont buy' . The variation in steam cut off. speed variation and coasting seem out of reach, certainly so far. I.ll stick with fixed speed of actual locos on a greetings card recorder for my 'realism'. as in this recent ...

Re: Polystyrene insulation on baseboards? Which adhesive?
My suggestion would be search builders skips for insulation board offcuts rather than polystyrene. This can be stuck with contact adhesives, the texture also finer, Initially 'roughed out' to shape in the garden, still a mess to do then 'finished off' with kitchen carver and 'green roll' in situ, th...

Re: Graham Farish OO gauge suburban oaches
Hi Keefjack, been searching and reading what others do, most suggesting a 'thin wash'. Advice also re different types of paint due to interaction of surface strength which can appear after a time.Bit like the old 'crackle finish' assume. Often wonder if weathering 'cheapens' a models value, yet ofte...

Re: Graham Farish OO gauge suburban oaches
The Brake I purchased off a seller on Ebay arrived today. Looking at the finish which like most models, unless 'weathered' looks like it is 'out of the paint shop'. It seems 'involved' to give a complete makeover, any recommendations re weathering with a single spray over to darken without loosing t...

Re: Graham Farish OO gauge suburban oaches
I bought 8 of these new some 25 or more years back. about £3.50 each then, but no brakes.Recently 'bought' couple of brakes off Ebay to be informed one had gotten damaged beyond repair so anyone have a spare LNER brake or 3rd/brake surplus please. PM if interested in selling. Must admit wondering ab...

Thought I would add this here from a different post but similar subject matter, re recording sounds and disappointing steam sound decoders..These 'doctored' from actual sounds. Beeman.

Re: Dirty pit stuff!
Just like I remember it during my employment in the industry albeit on the Electrical side, only thing missing is the workers in old dirty [coal dust contaminated] clothes, waistcoats, boots and flat caps, and perhaps a fire in a brazier basket. 'Lovely ' place to work in a wet cold winter.Your backs...

Re: automatic passing loop module
Hi, Peak Experience, I think you need to explain fully as to what you are attempting, which/when each loco/train moves .. Does one, 'goods' perhaps enter the loop to be passed by the 'faster passenger. etc. or are they running in opposite directions.and are you expecting to make fully automatic.? Be...

Smoke and Steam.
Further to a number of posts recently re White metal /DCC and Sound, all a bit related, I finally achieved my project with the GEM G2, fitting Smoke unit firebox flicker and greetings card sound recorder in the tender. As stated in earlier posts, this works with the firebox[Aux. O/P] on a 60 secs re...
