Re: oxy/ecetelyne cutting gear, bottles(4mm model of)

'Pianoman', your post 'inspired' me to have a go at DIY, thinking it would be a useful scene for outside the Engine shed, result after a few hours, the table has a flickering LED inset under the cutters 'gas axe' . The china made figure was originally a man with a walking stick but bent nicely/ repa...

Re: replace x04 motor - something more modern?

There is a 'market here for 'someone' capable, perhaps in etched brass/solderable to fit a Mabuchi motor. The XO4 is NOT a motor that embraces DCC . so many of the older locos would benefit from that upgrade. I have done quite a number of mine and found well worth doing by making a soldered brass 'fr...

Re: HS2 phase two

something on which so much money is being spent but for so little gain! WHAT is the Gain. ? to move a certain few people around. I suspect not to be used for freight transport of our exports. I imagine most business these days is done by 'internet' . and as posted those needing personal contact fin...

Re: Conclusions after 6 months back in the hobby.

Nothing much better to spend wet days (or was it weeks) hiding from the rain and long dark damp evenings.
Many do it to escape SWIMBO but difficult if she controls the purse strings, Beeman.

Re: HS2 phase two

Watching Dan Snows program yesterday eve was interesting as to how the Railways 'exploded' the economies of other countries. BUT in each case they had something to shift/sell, the railway providing the MEANS. The Victorians were in the same position during the Industrial Revolution with ' innovation...

Re: HS2 phase two

The Great Central showed/proved the lack of forthought that too often exists in this country. In a few years, remember what is being 'said' at present re Mali/Africa. remember Afghanistan !.What a boon the old G.C. route right into the centre of Leicester would be now.especially if the Gap at Loughb...

Re: Thinking about upgrading my DCC Unit.

I've been well satisfied with Dynamis without the pro box. does what I want/need, :D and over 40 chipped locos and used with re-chargeable cells. In fact bought a £65.00 'standbye/spare off Ebay 'in case' .Probable cheaper than a repair should one fail. My advice is keep a 'Diary' containing note/se...

Re: HS2 phase two

Honest ,inquisitive questions should be asked , is there any difference as to asking what are the 'overall benefits' against astronomic costs involved.along with potential safety issues. It seems like some of the commentators are the dummies, supporting and allowing 'Them' in Office to continue wit...

Re: HS2 phase two

Won't bother me at my age but be interesting to see if 'They' sell us out AGAIN to Germany or France. Like our lorry manufacturers, 'bus builders, power generation companies. Train builders, the list goes on. How did BAE escape ??.When will the British public 'wise up', Whats the betting the 'trains...
