Re: Future of DCC Sound Models

Britfarmer, I like the look of that bit of kit. I have several sound locos a 66, 60, 45,40, 37 and a Crompton. I also have a couple of steam ones which I think are pretty poor. Except my GR2 which is very realistic. With steam it is very difficult to make them depart without sounding like they are d...

Time to relocate for winter.

Hi all, The time of year has come when spending too much time on my loft layout, coming along nicely by the way, results in severe cold in the aging joints. My loft layout is early sixties but I have also obtained a collection of class 66, a 60 , a 56 and even a 67. Some have sound but all are dcc. ...

Re: Beyer Peacock

Hi It's just that I made an inquiry about an article he has for sale but after an initial reply I have heard nothing since. Just wondering why as the post is still up on classifieds.

First attempt

Hi all, A couple of photos of my Bachmann 4 road coming on. This is the first time I have ever attempted anything like this and I am very pleased with being able to fit the Peco inspection pits in place and use grey board to make up the floor. I know that compared to some I have seen on this forum m...

Sound chips.

Could someone explain why sound chips are so expensive? Is it because of low volume sales? After all I can buy an external hard drive with a 500MB ram for about £60. Is it the chips themselves which are expensive as I notice a certain supplier sells the sounds files for next to nothing? Not really h...

Re: Inspirational layout

Thanks for that but as amazing as it is it's not the one. The one I refer to was a lot smaller than that one.

Inspirational layout

A few days ago I saw a layout on this forum which I was very impressed with. I thought I had bookmarked it but hadn't. To make matters worse my Firefox system clears history after 48 hrs so I have lost all record of it. The layout had a steam depot at one end and a TMD at the other and was very deta...

Re: arnos vale- progress at last.

Hi all, Holidays over and at last the Fuhrer has settled down and stopped dashing about with me in tow. I have had a change of mind about my shed and TMD as I have now managed to fit y four road Bachmann shed into the layout. Major track changes later I have just done what I was dreading/ leaving ou...

Re: New class 60 running poorly

Thanks for all the advice chaps. I am going to take it back to the shop I bought it from (local) as I don,t want to invalidate the warranty.

New class 60 running poorly

I have a Hornby class 60, 60029 Clitheroe Castle, which is a very poor runner. I was led to believe that these locos were legendary pullers at very slow speeds. I can't get mine to react to the DCC controller until step 6 or 7 on the speed dial (Both Dynamis and NCE) and before that it just makes a ...

Modelling board

What is the name of the art card people use for modeling? For the life of me I can't remember but I do recall seeing a post about it on here somewhere.
