Re: WR OO Castle Cary Themed BR 1980's-1990's Era

Looks good. Are you making the station have that desolate look? Coming home from London this time last week our conductor announced thst we were about to stop in "Scary Castle" quite apt I thought :) Conductor? Conductor? I suppose you go to the train station too, Foo. Please, please we a...

Re: Model Railway Magazines

I used to prefer Model rail but I now prefer British Railway modeller. Real railways ? Traction magazine is always worth a look as is Steam World.

Great photo Steve. I especially like the hopeful lady who has her white washing out drying!

You have some fantastic locos. What gauges are they.

Re: Just what is your worst ebay dud?

A little off subject but I just missed out on a Heljan western http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181123113140?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2648 This is the old Western Enterprise with a sound chip fitted. £100.01! Begs the question would it have been a pile of doo dahs? Private listing ...

Rosebay Willowherb

Hi, I have been trying, without much success to source Rosebay Willowherb for 00 gauge. As it is the major weed growing on our railways I thought it would be easy to source but apparently not. Does anyone know of a supplier or have any ideas of the best way to replicate it?

Regards Steve

Re: Allenik TMD 80's to present day Diesel OO layout

Great layout you have there. Makes my 8 x 2 TMD look a bit meagre. Still from small things...etc. Thanks for the inspiration and the ideas. I thought I had gone overboard with locos until I saw your fantastic collection. I also am in the process, very slowly, of building an oval round the loft with ...

Re: Are you striving for realism?

Perfection? An old pair of glasses and a badly lit loft work wonders for my layout.

Re: What is it with some modellers?

What I don't understand is why, on this forum, there must be constant attacks on people on other forums. If you find those forums too 'Elitist' then simply do not go there. Surely slagging them off as fat smelly old men who push children out of their way and are rude at exhibitions is a massive gen...

Re: What is it with some modellers?

Ref RM web has anyone else read the Dapol Western threads. The tiniest detail is pulled apart and moaned about. Now I don't know about anyone else but my eyesight these days isn't what it was and I find it hard to notice the odd mistake. Same with the Heljan class 52. Before it was released it was t...

Re: What is it with some modellers?

I agree with this post. As a relative newcomer to the hobby I am getting sick and fed up with the elitist attitude of some people. Not all of them but some seem to think that if you don't know everyone you must be not worth speaking too as you can't have anything to offer. Mind you I find the same t...

A seller who is friendly to you regardless if you have or haven't bought something off them before. As for the upcoming wish list well lets just say model rail hit the nail on the head with 3 of the 4 midland locos they think people want, a Johnson 1p, stanier crab and a fowler 3mt. Additional the ...

They new fangled 'lectric things.

The other day I was idling away a lovely sunny day on Pilning station just above the Severn Tunnel eastern portal to photograph freight. I only saw two all afternoon but that's beside the point. A chap turned up who I found out later was called Dave and he has been photographing trains since the six...

Re: TV Alert

OK b308, fair points. We do have a lot more trains than we used to. I remember in the old days arriving at Heathrow knowing I had missed the last train at a very early time. Now they do at least run after 10:00pm. I think my main gripe about todays railways is the shortness of some inter city trains...
