Re: Old Warren TMD - it's repaints galore!

Oooh an update. The photo's are stunning Chris. You make me want to add lights to the Y&CR as those night shots look so atmospheric. And what are those business men up to? Some shady deal seems to be going down by the looks of things...

Cheers,

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Burst hot water tanks... oh dear!

Hi all, Yeouch thankfully the damage we had sounds nothing like as bad as what happened to you Chris. Contrary to what it may sounds like from my earlier posts (and contrary to what it sounded to me at 2 in the morning when the hallway flooded) the damage isn't all that bad: http://i965.photobucket....

Re: Starlingford - Tornado on Tynedale, pg 106

Ooooh Humorist looks frankly superb at the front of that scale rake of Gresley teaks. I should love to go to the exhibition, but alas Aberdeen is a wee bit too far for me to go, being all the way down here near London! It's good to see that Tynedale is coming along nicely after some spanners had a g...

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Burst hot water tanks... oh dear!

How is this for neighbourly service! After speaking to one of the neighbours this morning who does a plumbing and central heating business, he turns up at 3.30 with a new tank which in a few hours he had fitted. I have just had a hot shower and I feel alive again! I would have never thought that we ...

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Yeoveney station nearing completion

Hi Gav, I'm glad to see that you are alive and kicking. I did begin to wonder that a month had ticked by and we hadn't heard from you! The black five is a beauty and it really suits the layout (the dogs dingly danglies to add one to your list). It's funny, but I had always wanted to get a Jubilee fo...

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Yeoveney station nearing completion

Yeah just try a fine sewing cord. The cables are bigger on electricity pylons so you never know the scale might look right!

Re: Rayne St, Fictional N-Gauge Layout

Thanks Steve, sounds quite easy when you say it. I'll have to have a bash at this water stuff... I have a potential spot where I could try it out. Oh and I do know Grotland's superb layout; I'm just a bit surprised that it has got down to page 6! Lovely stuff on the willow too! :D

Re: Thomas At Silver Fox Island - one for kids to drive

I've just noticed that the island in the lake matches up with the hollow in the hill for the board to fold up. How very clever! This is a superb and well thought out layout. I can see that the 'kids' are really enjoying themselves!

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Yeoveney station nearing completion

Hi Chris, I first experimented with fishing wire, and fine electrical cable, but both wouldn't sag neatly, instead looked irregular with kinks in the cable all the way along the length. What I have actually used is a fine cotton sewing cord, which as the picture shows looks very effective and hangs ...

Oooh this certainly sounds interesting; I shall look forward to this one develop! With your modelling skills on board I know it's going to be good. Nice to see a few of the other models I recognise in the background too!

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Yeoveney station nearing completion

Thanks chaps! I've been giving a little thought to the problem of a fiddle yard. I do agree that a scenic fiddle yard would be far superior; It's the problem of where to put it and how to connect it to the layout. My only real option would probably be to run a similar baseboard along the opposite si...

Re: Rayne St, Fictional N-Gauge Layout

I'm not sure I noticed this layout before, so it must have been a long time. Shocking. Where is that Grotland then? I think we all go through a modelling burn every now and then, but it's good to see that you are getting back into the swing of things. The river looks fantastic, although if I were to...

Re: East Cheltwell

Ooooh the 110 looks superb! This is an excellent addition and it looks great alongside the steamers; I bet you must be pleased! Good to see that my advice helped the photography. I'm by no means an expert at photography and there is still so much I have to learn, but that said simply using the apert...

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Yeoveney station nearing completion

Thanks chaps! A fiddle yard would rally help, although the problem is I have no where on the layout that I could run a siding off to the side and on to a separate baseboard. Just about every corner and side of the Y&CR is covered by some scenic feature, building etc. Maybe the hand of god approa...

Re: The Bridge (The Y&CR) - Updates and even more updates!

Woah that was a fast response! I hadn't thought about an 08, since I have my Fowler 3F and a class 04 to do the job. I am more interested in getting more steam shunters, but still and 08 is always a possibility. I am very pleased with the telegraph wires too. Cotton string seems to be the on...
