Station building over tracks

I'm building an OO layout based on a Freezer plan. It has a station building which is at road level, which is higher than track level. There are steps down to the platforms from the station building. The station building is over the tracks. Here's an extract from the plan to show what I mean: http:/...

Signal Boxes: A Review by English Heritage

An interesting and useful report by English Heritage, taken as a result of the Network Rail decision to close all the remaining signal boxes on the rail network.

There's an e-petition here, requesting that the govt reconsider, if anyone would like to sign it: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/37180

Re: Fitting sound to Bachmann Class 105

Thanks, Ian. In that case, I think I may well buy a different speaker, as it looks like it would be easier to fit a rectangular one (as well as giving better sound).

I'm going to email Model Rail and ask them what the "provisions" for sound are that they mention...

Fitting sound to Bachmann Class 105

I've fitted DCC decoders to locos before, but never with sound. I have a Bachmann Class 105, and a Loksound 4. According to the review of the cl 105 in Model Rail "space for a decoder - and sound unit if required - is neatly cast into the top of the metal block that surrounds the motor". A...

Height of Peco platform edging?

Could someone please tell me how high the Peco OO platform edging is? I'm trying to work out whether it needs to sit at baseboard level or higher, if the track is on underlay.

Looks like an MG to me, a TA or TC, probably; they're pretty much indistinguishable anyway so either would do.

It's now on show at the Ribble Steam Railway; it's going to be there for the next year.

Re: Beginner

Is it in the middle of a room, with access from all sides, or against a wall/in a corner? If you don't have access to all sides, have you thought about how you will reach the back, particularly the corner, which will be over 5 ft away?

Thanks; I think the 108 decoder will do fine for my purposes, in that case.

Class 105 DCC Sound

Is there a sound decoder available specifically for a Class 105 DMU, or is one supposed to use the Class 108 decoder? I imagine the real things sound quite similar anyway?

Re: Bass reflex speaker - DCC Sound

Taking the average value for two speakers or resistors in parallel only applies if the two resistors are of equal value. No it doesn't; it never applies. If it did, then two 8 ohm resistors would give 8 ohms, which is the average of 8 and 8. If two different value speakers are used the formula for ...
