Re: early 80's hornby HST repairs

much of that sounded like charlie browns teacher to me ;-)

heh, I'll dismantle the 91 over the weekend. and if i mess it up, less concerned about it than the HST. I hope I will recognise the things when i look :-) sound simple,

early 80's hornby HST repairs

I have recently test run my hornby HST from when i were a wee bairn, and it's very poorly. I was thiking of servicing this but am somewhat an amateur. it seems clean and nothing is obviously broken but it stutters along the track as if the power keeps dying. any advice. . also while I'm at it, my Cl...

Re: Brand new to N-Gauge, oh what to do?!

http://rampantchicken.com/seaside1.gif ok then, not the best layout plan ever, but i think you can get the idea of what i am trying. I am concerned that the sidings are too short, I can remove the small curve before the point and maybe bring the track back round inside the loop a touch. also think ...

Re: My next N gauge layout!

interesting, looking forward to seeing it develop, I'm currently trying to decide between DCC and DC myself. i only have 2 loops though, so DC is probably for the best, but found the Bacman basic DCC controller for £39, so it's tempting. now the, get on with it so i can nick some ideas from you ;-)

Re: do i have a problem?

some people just don't do design, maybe skip to building and do it as you go along, you'll make mistakes, but it should "hopefully" keep you interested!

Re: A to Z of coach lighting.

Thanks for a very enlightening article. I had been wondering about using batteries and LED's for coach lighting but this definately trumps it. however I am of course a bit shall we say "unpracticed" in electronics. Does anywhere offer to do this for a fee? now, off to look for engine light...

Re: Brand new to N-Gauge, oh what to do?!

right then. having found 3 more maroon coaches when I was tidying (I swear i can't remember buying them!!) I figure I am already quite flush with the stock for the 60's layout, so I'll be doing that, plus I do like the idea of having a Lighthouse on the cliff. I can save my midlands scheme till i ha...

Re: Brand new to N-Gauge, oh what to do?!

thanks for the swift replies, some useful comments on train length, this will be a bit of a concern on either layout i know. I'd love to do both and I have spent all afternoon trying to decide which way to go, and still can't decide. I love seeing other peoples tracks and was quite surprised to see ...

Brand new to N-Gauge, oh what to do?!

so then, I have recently decided N is the future, due to space considerations. I'm planning a 2 foot by 4 foot board, with a little extra available if needed. I origionally planned a twin loop with small goods yard in a seafront settin, running in the Early 60's... but have been drawn to some of the...

Re: 'Ellensborough' (N Gauge WR) - Updated 2/1/09

I have only recently started collecting N scale, and was looking around thiking about how little their was compared to OO, and thought, mm, I'll start my layout and document it, but crikey, i don't think i can compete with the superb standard of your work, set in the same era, I'll be dissapointed w...
