Re: Caric Mark The Third...

Hi,

Nothing like actually doing something! You can plan too much.

Good luck - there must be a few holes in them boards by now :D

James

Re: Apa Something...

Hi, That looks great - shows off what you can do in a small space with N gauge. I particularly like the gentle curves and the fact you can have a lot of fun operating for only a few points. On the posts front; I've noticed a few people mention the lack of replies recently. I think you get more here ...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi all, Bit more progress to report. I've decided to remove the end wall from the boiler house and join it to the workshop - it fits a lot better and looks more realistic. I've also added the last details to the buildings. I was going to buy a scalescenes bridge but remembered I had one somewhere in...

Re: Caric Mark II

Hi, As you know I've been concentrating on shunting layouts recently. Given the space you have it would be a waste to have just sidings so I like the idea to incorporate a loop too. As for constantly restarting stuff - I've lost count of how many times I've done that - you only learn by doing someth...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi all Simple maybe, but so effective - thanks in part to the excellent track etc weathering. Really nice. Thanks - It all needs to be a bit dirtier but I'm pleased so far. Here is some more progress with the layout. I've decided to go for the same back scene I've used before as shown, in part, in t...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi Geoff, Yes - the planning stage normally expands the layout in my experience! I still have a decent plan for the 6'x1'ish space in my garage, but I was losing sight of what I wanted for now. I can set up this 4'x1' in the conservatory over the winter (don't tell the wife - she thinks it is tempor...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

may I ask who does that warehouse in the first few pictures Hi, The warehouse is a scalescenes kit. You download the pdf, print onto decent paper, and glue to various thicknesses of card. Card kits aren't for everyone but I would recommend anyone giving it a try. The beauty is once you've bought th...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi, Thanks for the offer - but the track is ok for running as you see it above. The acrylic paint comes off pretty easily with a sharp blade or fingernail. A quick rub over with a track rubber and everything runs ok. I did find that with enamels on Braybridge the track needed 'cleaning' a lot more a...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi all, A bit of progress to report. I've sprayed the track and ballasted. I've simply sprayed the track with sleeper grime in the past but because there is lees track on this layout I decided I could take a little more time and try something different. First I sprayed it all over with Humbrol flat ...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi, Yes it will have an industrial feel with a warehouse, workshop, boiler house etc. I plan to have an road over bridge covering the end of the head shunt - or maybe a building in front of the siding - obviously both designed to obscure the fact that the track ends fairly soon! It will not be a par...

Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi all, I've been experimenting with layout designs for a small terminus in my garage lately. I was going for an Inglenook layout but it inevitably grew to something different and has been put to one side for now. One of the reasons I was going to use the garage was that I had a ready made 6'x1' boa...

Re: The life and death of Jumble Wood (and me..)

Hi, I like your plans and I will watch with interest. If I can throw my hat in the ring on advice.....I notice the point motors protrude below the bottom edge of your wood - how do you plan to store the boards when not in use (you mention you want it to be portable)? If you extend the fasias of the ...

Re: Unnamed OO Terminus

Hi Rob,

Looks like you have a solid, simple and effective plan. I have a soft spot for thin end to end layouts so I'll watch your progress with interest. You seem to have a decent size to deal with but I'm pleased to see you've avoided the temptation to make it too complicated.

All the best,
James

Re: Braybridge aka Winter Project - 5' x 1' - Picture update

Here are a few pictures taken by a couple of friends who were also exhibiting at the show. I'm very grateful as I never think of taking any myself! http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/tappj/5x1/ilfracombe4_zps1920a475.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/tappj/5x1/ilfracombe3_zpsea8cb0f0....
