Re: Molesworth

Hi,

This is looking really good - you seem to have a good flow to the trackwork - very pleasing to the eye.

I also like the way the industrial buildings hide the entrance from the fiddle yard.

Looking forward to seeing this progress - good luck with the playing.....I mean testing!

Cheers,
James

Re: My next project , micro shed diorama.

Hi, Excellent scratch building on show here - I like to do the same thing on a much smaller sclae, with printed paper, scenic stuff, odd fencing, etc out of my 'store' (or overspend as my wife would refer to it). There is something very satisfying about making something out of nothing - and when it ...

Re: Caric Mark The Third...

Hi,

You are making great progress - some really nice 'small scenes' there - which is borne out in the photographs.

Keep going!

James

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook - Picture Update

Hi Luke, Most of the kits/structures can be bought in various types of stone or brick - its not just as the picture shown - There is a drop down where you select the brick/stone type and gauge. Try looking at the scratch building section for examples of the types of stone available. Apologies if I'm...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook - Picture Update

Hi Don, Thanks very much - I really appreciate that. I spent last night drilling 0.8mm holes in my fence posts to accept wire. The first fence will run along the grass bank about half way up and end against the road. I also plan to put a 'diamond' pattern mesh fence alongside the yard area behind th...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook - Picture Update

I would also add that Delux materials Roket card glue (I think its spelt like that) is a godsend with these sorts of kits.

Its superglue for card and speeds up the building process a lot. You need to be sure before you use it - but waiting for pva to dry is a waste of time!

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook - Picture Update

Hi Luke, I print onto decent paper - 130 gsm semi gloss. I'm lucky enough to have access to a laser printer at work (I supply my own paper) but I have no reason to think an inkjet with some good paper will not be successful. I have never printed directly onto card. I used pritstick type glue to atta...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook - Update

Hi all, I've had a good week spending time on the layout and made some good progress with the greenery.... I've grassed the bank and added the walls around the buildings. I'm lucky enough to have a Noch grass-master and the effect you get is great - even if I'm still learning the best mix of ingredi...

Re: My next project , micro shed diorama.

Hi, What an excellent layout - some really inspirational photos/information too - thanks very much for sharing it. I like the idea of having the 'shunting plank' folding under the layout for storing. I'm eyeing up the offcuts in my garage already.......must stop and finish my current effort first! A...

Re: Caric Mark The Third...

The last photo is great!

The ground cover is good too. Don't be too hard on yourself - the only way to learn is to give it a go.

Re: Apa Something...

Hi, This really is a very nice layout - very well done. I really like layouts like this, when you finish them off properly like this they stand out without any trains as an impressive 3D picture. Apologies if you've already told us, but what are the dimensions of the scenic section? All the best, Ja...

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi all, I seem to have slipped to the second page - must be time for an update! I've coated the polystyrene in plaster bandage and painted it brown ready to accept static grass. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/tappj/Bratton%20Lane/P1030531_zps51307dc3.jpg I wasn't really happy with the unifo...

Re: Apa Something...

Hi,

The track looks good - a good dust after ballasting is definitely a good idea.

Just a bit of green really starts to make a difference too - those photos look really good and gives me a better idea of how the layout will develop.

Good job

James

Re: Bratton Lane - Inglenook

Hi all, Thanks for the comments. Made a bit more progress over the last week. I've completed the walls around the bridge and added some railings from another kit I'll never make! I think they fit in nicely. Prior to this I completed the front fascia board - this was one of the last jobs on my previo...
