Re: Hornby Class 59 startup and slow running

I bought a bachmann ddc fitted class 66, and the decoder caused appaulling noise, and it would not accelerate at a realistically slow rate. I replaced it with hornbys bog standard £9.99 job, and it works a treat. In short, i dont think i'll ever trust a bachmann decoder again :P

Re: first time ballast with pic

yes, i did some yesterday afternoon and its still not dry, as its out in the workshop, which is cold - not heated. I suggest applying it at the weekend, and leaving it be during the week.

Re: WS ballast for OO gauge - fine or medium??

I've answered my own question, by buying some medium (already had some fine), and conclude that medium is my prefered choice, as it is much easier to work with, and i find that the fine stuff can disintergrate into a sort of paste.

Pics to follow :)

Re: Proposed layout comments

heres my thinking: http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6074/outback1.jpg self-explainatory i hope, the line to the mine climbs to a level above of the large curve, hiding it. The mine is made up of two loading sidings and then another small storage siding. The abandoned siding fills the space at the ...

Re: Footage of Class 70 model @ Warley

Any chance of a clip of it in action?? I have to say the finish looks smoother than at warley, but also more matt in appearance.
