Re: Not happy with my layout

That looks an interesting layout with plenty of operational movements.
Glad to see everything worked out with your dad told you we are not a bad bunch.

Re: Not happy with my layout

Why not hit the nail on the head and ask your dad what he thinks about a change of direction for the layout and at least you are letting him have a say you never know he maybe thinking the same. I suppose the worst could be that he will be angry/hurt for a short time and may come round to your way o...

Re: Help for a newbie

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Wondering have you tried sketching a few ideas that you have
or adapting some from the plans you have already seen.

Re: Suitable height for a layout

The bookcases sound a promising idea I used wardrobes on there side and supported any area extended by using IKEA adjustable legs and the height is about 85cm width 120cm and find this a good height so I can reach the back (if I breath in). The only thing I would mention is that using bookcases reme...

Re: Bachmann Track

If your original suggestion using R8074 works all the better
wondering with it being a different radius a lenght of flexi track
may come in handy to allow for any slight difference in radius.

Re: Bachmann Track

The R8074 is for going from 3rd radius I was meaning to use R8072 or R8073
which is on the other side from R8074.

Re: Bachmann Track

I think if you fit a hornby point and a short r606 you should
have the same radius as your r607.
You would then branch off the straight section of the point to form your siding
If wrong the more experienced members may correct it.

Re: Best type of paint to use on cork?

I would maybe watch painting the cork with emulsion as the paint being water base i would think it would soak into cork. On previous layout I painted cork with B&Q grey primer and when I changed layout found the cork brittle and hard which would defeat the porpuse of using it for sound deafening...

Re: Hornby spade connectors

Have you tried a local car accessory shop as the may stock connectors
for electrics in cars or maybe rapidonline may have something.

Re: Little L Shape

Hi Gary
Welcome back and hello to the forum again.
Sound like you could make a nice layout with plenty of operational movement.
If making a loop think 2nd radius would be your biggest you could use but then again I maybe wrong.
If you went n gauge possibilities could be greater.

Re: Point motors... is my diagram correct?

A cdu is a capacitor discharge unit that gives you a better punch of electrical charge
which helps if you are throwing more than one set of points.
The more knowledgable maybe able to explain it in more detail

You may find some of the shops will give a better discount than using some of the codes
