Re: 2013 wishlist

I'll just be happy with what's already on the cards, especially Dapol's 50.

I'd like to see a Class 325 but there isn't much in the way of livery variations to be had..

A 377 would go down well I'm sure, and some of the older 3rd rail EMUs are always on the list.

Re: Woodhurst Model Railway layout

Good to hear that.

Any updates at the moment? I know Queen St quite well so it will be good to see.

Re: Stuck with shorts..

Hi Flashbang

Yes it is DCC. Thank you so much for that diagram, it's exactly what I was after!

One thing I have never been able to get the hang of is wiring a layout!

Thanks again,

Ryan

Stuck with shorts..

Hey all. Been trying to wire up a new small layout and as usual I've mucked it up somewhere. I am using N Gauge code 55 electrofrog points. I first laid all the track, didn't use any IRJs and had to pull up the points. I managed to run some trains until I found one point when switched caused a short...

Re: Shelfton - N gauge shelf layout

Good start there. I'm doing a similar sort of project at the moment.

You mentioned Poole, I'm actually from Poole but moved away 10 years ago. I assume the model shop was Setchfields?

A second idea, pretty similar but not much chance of getting a loco out of the actual parcel sidings, once unloaded the carriages would need to be hauled out by another loco to release the first.

New Plan Idea - Royal Mail Terminal (N Gauge)

Hey all. Been away from the hobby for a little while focusing on other stuff and I've neglected my trains! I found a shelf and a half which I plan to use to make a small Royal Mail depot attatched to a couple of passenger platforms. http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/7025/rmd.png This is what I have...

Re: Which Magazine for N-Gauge?

I do have a look at the ads and sometimes there are decent little shops that I've never heard of or one offering something I haven't seen before.

I thought one thing was a bit poor. Hopefully they have something decent waiting.

Re: Oak Street - N Gauge

Thanks Kevin.

After a bit of a dilemma with wiring I have laid the remainder of my track and wired it up. Time to test everything and then I can begin planning some scenery in a bit more detail before I ballast.

Re: Wiring my layout for DCC

Thanks for the advice flashbang. I found the offending wire eventually, and once disconnecting it everything works. It was to the last siding. Thank god, I was beginning to lose my temper with it. Now all there is to do is to reconnect them the right way and tidy up the wires! Thanks again guys. Ryan

Re: Wiring my layout for DCC

So I rewired again, basically as you said on the curves and for the sidings I have droppers down to a bus that connects to the controller feed. Now is it considered a reverse loop? Because I narrowed down the short to that area, basically when I had the red to red and black to black from the sidings...

Re: Wiring my layout for DCC

Thanks Flashbang. I have wired it all up, all reds together, all blacks together. Still get shorts, or what happens is my controller resets itself which before was a sign of a short. Theres a red LED and it lights up when its working. If I plug the controller into the left port the controller starts...

Wiring my layout for DCC

Hey all I thought I knew what I was doing but I don't and a lot of explanations are very complicated on the internet. I also don't have a paint program on my mac so I was wondering if someone could give me a basic example (using dots or whatever) of where I should put the wires and if I need IRJs (a...
