Re: Easy Chopper/Cutter.

Mine works well and looks like it will give years of service, so a fiver including postage is fine and just a good indication of how much profit some suppliers make from selling what looks like an identical product, but if you want to spend £40 on the name brand product that is your choice.

Re: Couplings

Hi They look like they might be NEM couplings, they should just pull out with a gentle tug. What loco is it, most of their recent production do have NEM pockets but some like the class 66 don't for some bizarre reason. One thing to watch out for is Farish have a different idea to Dapol as to what is...

Re: Easy Chopper/Cutter.

Hi

The versions that have the solid blade would probably go through 6mm pine without much struggle.

Something like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vitrex-Tile- ... 2354447024

Re: Blown TTS Decoder - what did I do wrong?

Also ignore the instructions about wrapping the decoder in tape, they get hot and need air, I once used a bit of loose fitting un-shrunk heat shrink and after 5 minutes running it had started to shrink, it got that hot.

Re: converting leds from 3v to 12v

Positive red goes to the longer of the two legs on the LED, I tend to always put the resistor on the red wire, just for consistency and to satisfy my OCD.

Re: Class 37 repaint

Looks like a nice job you have done there, was the paint sprayed or brushed and how long did it take the Detol to strip the paint, not heard of using it to strip paint, and how long before the smell went ;)

Re: Removing the body on Bachmann 32-353 no. 80135

Hi No longer have mine so can't double check, but don't remember any difficulty getting the body off, as said above, to move the coupling and it's pocket as they sometimes hide a screw under there. A couple of other things that can make body removal difficult is they sometimes glue things like pipes...

Re: Arduino / DCC++ power supply

You can go higher on the shield power, ie 18v but remember you then have to cut the link supplying power to the Arduino, and still use 12v supply for that.

Only use 12v on mine but not noticed any limitation, but I don't need to run anything fast on my layout.

Re: Using Insulation Board as the base

Don't forget the Celutex type of insulation cannot be cut with a hot wire/knife type cutter and if you try it gives of toxic fumes that will do damage to your eyes, don't ask how I know this but is bl@@dy painful

Re: MODEL TOWN

Just watched the whole series over the last couple of days, don't know why but it seemed better this time around, perhaps Simon Farmer is less annoying now I am older, there were some nice layouts shown throughout the series. An interesting way was shown for joining flexitrack on a bend, anyone use ...

Re: The Great Model Railway Challenge

The thing they have to be careful with regarding presenters is that it has long been proven is that a good presenter who knows nothing about The subject is often far better than someone who knows the subject but knows nothing about being a good presenter. Tim is a bit of a Marmite type of guy but ne...
