The ultimate British N Gauge model?

Saw this at the N Gauge show and he has now posted it on You Tube:

It's not just the sound, the weathering and detailing is also perfectly executed.

Re: arriva 57

That quote for the Arriva livery is nearly 5 times what a repaint should cost, I would have said £50 maximum and that includes weathering I think the point here is that a CJM or a Mercig model is not just a simple repaint. If you go to the Mercig commissioning page on the website you can see how mu...

Re: arriva 57

As has been said you will have to pay top dollar for a quality job from either Mercig or CJM. To my knowledge there is no Delner coupler currently available and I know that Ian at Mercig scratch makes his own and judging from the photos that he had at the last Alexandra Palace show they looked amazi...

This has been a great thread and so nice to see a layout go from baseboard to finished article.... a real pleasure to read.

Well done

Re: weathering expensive models.

A great book as a starting point is 'The Art of Weathering' by Martin Welch. As others have said build your skill level up gradually from old wagons and cheap loco bodies from ebay. If you need some inspiration on how good a Farish Warship can look weathered and detailed then have a look at Mercigs ...

Re: Dapol or Farish Class 66 - Which is best?

I didn't know dapol were doing a 222 and 181, what do you mean by ews and DB (company obviously but which model?) The class 67 is an excellent runner, but i don't think the 66's have the same motor? There are probably more but the ones that I know of that have the super creep motor with the same pl...

Re: Dapol or Farish Class 66 - Which is best?

Not allot between the two manufactures although for me the Dapol ones have a higher level of detail. The latest Dapol releases (ews 222, 181 db schenker etc) use the latest chassis similar to the 67 and is very good.... only gripe is that they didn't use the high definition bogie side frames for the...

Re: What to buy for £60

Out of the list I would avoid the 47 as it is old tooling and avoid the 20 like the plague as it still uses the old Poole era chassis. Personally I think the 60 and 08 are great models. The peaks are good but could do with the bogie slimming modification. Have you thought about an 04 as that too is ...

Re: Detail Farish Deltic or Duff?

IMHO the Farish Deltic is absolutely awful where as the latest batch of 47's are amongst the best RTR British N Gauge models that are currently available. Plus the fact that the new prototype Deltic will presumably/hopefully be followed by a retooled Deltic would make your choice, in my opinion, pre...

Re: N'spirations - new N gauge publication

Hi Grahame I think you underestimate just how easy a paypal transaction is to do for us lazy customers..... I admit to being in the camp of not being bothered to go through the faff of having to get a stamp etc etc. Basically it comes down to the fact that you are selling a product that I wouldn't m...

As well as the bubblecar, Dapol will also be releasing one of their forthcoming class 86's in NSE livery..... 86401.

Re: Ashvale TMD - N Gauge *NEW PICS*

Looks like the layout is coming along very nicely. That 46 looks amazing.... I had a go once at respraying a 46 into departmental livery but gave it up as a bad job, it's harder than it looks to get that red and white right.

Cheers D

Re: Renumbering a Farish 60 (badly): Transrail -> RF Metals

You will probably never get an exact match using neat Rail match paints, you only have to look at the variations of colour between a Dapol and Farish same liveried locos to see that they don't have any uniform colour key. You are better off mixing the colour yourself adding white/Black to the Railma...
