Re: SCARM - Simple Computer Aided Railway Modeller
I have just completed my track plan based on Roco GeoLine track using SCARM. This program is simply great! It's easy to use as well! Highly recomended!

Re: Just to get me started....
Your wagon is an early version with cranked couplings. These are number 36-027. While you're at it I would suggest you replace those old wheels as well with Bachmann 3-hole disc wheels 36-015. Welcome to a great hobby!

Re: Replacement wheels
I have just tried Bachmann 14.1mm wheels in the Hornby Mk1 bogies, and they are a perfect fit. No problems on 2nd radius curves.

Re: Replacement wheels
Hornby Mk1 coaches......great value and look the dogs, but the wheels? well less said about them the better. What's the better replacement? Hornby 14.1mm or Bachmann ones? I remember somebody said Hornby's wheels weren't profiled correctly. I can't say I've ever had issues with Hornby wheels though...

I just couldn't resist the temptation to show you mine! All three are 50mm, and I even included a Pocketbond Classix as well. I'm not sure they are bad at all!

I was on the same high-speed train between Pingyao and Beijing last year. The strange thing to me was that one did not actually feel that we were travelling fast at all! The seats were really bad though, so a shorter trip would have been nice! ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Smart Phone as DCC Hand Set???
Why has everyone suggested complicated systems rather than recommend the one built for this purpose? I have the Roco Z21 DCC command station. You get no controllers, just a wifi router and black box as the command station which you connect to using Android or Apple smartphone or tablet. It also sup...

Re: RR Tornado - Cartazzi/pony truck
I agree completely with what you are saying! I used to think it was annoying on the main line as well, but after a while I got used to it, so now it doesn't look too bad! We must also remember that our track radii, especially in the mpd area, are a lot less than ideal! ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

I guess it's about time I made an entry in my workbench thread, so here is a NEM conversion of a Hornby Railroad Pullman coach. First I removed some of the floor as shown in the first and second photos: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/P7040002_zpsadycnwk0.jpg http://i167.pho...

The loco in question is a Climax logging engine made by Roundhouse Models (USA) in the 70's.

Re: First run of my Z21 DCC system
Bsa77, I have a New Z21 on my layout now. As I used to have a Digitrax Zephyr, I purchased the Z21 because it supports Loconet. As a result I run my railway with tablet, smart phone and Digitrax hand held throttles, all at the same time. I don't need to remember the loco addresses either, since the ...

Re: Mark 4 NEM couplings
If you want to go with the small tension lock couplings the R8099 I sugested are a direct replacement! Pull the old one out and push the new small one in! This is the same construction as the Mk3, isn't it?
