Re: new room
12 foot gives the opportunity of running near full length trains, however the fiddle yard might be a squeeze to accommodate that! That and the potential curves.....

Re: Planning software for use with iPad
Hi Toto, I don't think there is an app for the Ipad for planning software. I did have a look on Android as I have a tablet but came up blank. I personally used XTrackCad, however it did take me a few days to get the hang of it. You may also want to consider SCARM, however both are for the PC. Regard...

Re: Spare room layout
Welcome to the forum. 8 by 8 is a nice size to play with enough for trains with 5/6 coaches. Given the issues of lugging stuff up the loft, as well as access and the others you've mentioned I'd take the bedroom anyday. Suggestions for some inspiration, you might want to look up some of the CJ Freeze...

Re: Doncaster Station in N Gauge
Hi there,
Looks a nice plan, lotsa operational interest. Have you space all around the layout to access all areas?
Cheers B

Re: Realistic N gauge track
Code 55 is the ticket in in terms of ready to use n guage. Rail height is more to scale than code 80. For one stockist see here:- http://www.ehattons.com/stocklist/2/58/N_Gauge_Track_Points_Streamline_Code_55_Finescale/prodlistbyscaleandtype.aspx I've used them for oo finescale never had any issues,...

Re: Ply Board / Timber Costs ?
I found Jewson was better pricewise than B&Q and Wickes. Delivery was cheaper too. Also what swung it for me was that they did 9mm ply sheet in 1200mm widths instead of 900mm as offered by the other two. Hope this helps in the decision making process....

Re: Mill ... eh ... something-or-other
Thanks for the comments. Maybe a three way point would do the trick. Well lets see.... Mill.JPG Using XtrackCAD I've used settrack curves and Peco stream line points (much easier on the eye than hornby ones) with a couple of flexible sections. (in pink) Three half curves of 11.25 degree 1st radius ...

Re: Mill ... eh ... something-or-other
I like you plan. :-) I hope you don't mind but I thought you may want to consider this modification:- modded.JPG Pardon the use of paint as an editor :-) It should offer some more station length for two trains plus a DMU / Goods train that can bypasse the main station. The turntable is accessed more...

Re: Planning a garage build
Thanks! :-) As a further update and explaination of The plan is to run 6 coach rakes which should just fit into the station plus a variety of goods traffic. Ages ago I slowly got rid of my hornby stock and converted almost all of my rolling stock to Bachmann. The fiddle yard is intended to accomodat...

Planning a garage build
Hi All, After over three years of messing around with a multilevel non DCC layout that took over the bedroom / office the said layout is no more. Many reasons as to why it got ripped out, but the trigger was when we realised that installing double glazing next year in the said office / bedroom would...
