You'd be the oddball dissentient then, and on a quaintly quirky premise. #7 on the UK singles chart in ' 73.

Re: Price of a Hobby

Never thought I would be seeing on a model railway forum, a mention of the best and much missed Blues/Rock band this country (or any other) as ever produced, I am of course talking about FREE....Hornchurch and Free at Last, greetings from a fellow fan. Indisputably . I have every album they made. A...

Re: QUEENSLAND 3ft 6in NETWORK (1980's).

Good stuff. Quality is fine. Recognise most of those locations and many of the locos. Is that the Wesley Hospital, or Castlemaine Perkins brewery fromt he other direction In the background of the EMU at Auchenflower 2. A particularly good shot regardless, although Auchenflower station has changed a ...

Re: QUEENSLAND 3ft 6in NETWORK (1980's).

Great pics Duke. Really brought back some memories. :) Ridden in both that 80's DMU and 60's DMU/Railcar in my time, and shunter excepted, behind the other two diesel types, not necessarily those particular unit numbers. In the 1960s, the silver DMU used to operate low capacity weekend services on t...

Re: Price of a Hobby

Regarding the original post, how can youngsters get into the hobby.Dave The affordability barrier to kids concept is a hackneyed false premise, and I'm so tired of hearing it. Like R/C flying of recent years until the advent of first A. electric, then B. drones, "Youngsters" don't general...

Re: Price of a Hobby

Sorry, I made an error in my post, 2018 should have been 2008. The post was in response to the prices of Class 47s in 2008/2009, but I have just found a Hattons ad for 2009 with Class 47s from £39. Copy "error in" the original post. Makes sense now. I was buying back then. There were some...

Re: Price of a Hobby

Looking at a Hattons advert for Nov 2007 Bachmann 47s were £55 - £56. Various other months during 2018 show the same prices. Not sure what the point of this post is other than misrepresentation generally? Your're right in that after the financial crash of 2007, using Hattons' prices as a reference ...

Re: Price of a Hobby

LOL. ...true though. It's not just model trains though. e.g. The price of plastic model kits has gone ballistic. Anything new mould will require refinancing and possibly a second mortgage on your house. I've certainly cut back my model rail spending radically in recent years. Big temptation with Hor...

This is up to 14 pages already in the other place: so many experts....Tony Concur, but characteristically <yawn> RMweb. Hardly a surprise. I get the 'I've been burnt bitterness' tenor of DJM's post. Re: Very simple question,

... about to tackle my first card kit, a metcalfe bridge. My question is, what is the best glue to use? And any other tips on construction for a complete beginner. There are many alternatives which will work just fine, but IME the best by far for multiple reasons is Weldbond . Hands down. Available...

Re: Airbrush kits

What airbrush kits are people using, Not quite that simple. it looks like a minefield when trying to buy one . Not really, just unfamiliar territory to you . I take it a compressor with a tank is better than just a compressor? Yes. But, you can get by without one. That said, these days compressors ...
