Oily/Fishy Smell on Running Certain Locos

Hi all. I am what you probably would call still a novice at repairing/working on older locos and wondering if anyone can shed some light on this! So I have a few (probably older) locos that have an odd oil smell, particuarly much more noticable on running them after only a few minutes on the track. ...

What to attach scenics with?/Buildup Method? - Help Please!

Hi all, WHat is the best way of building up scenery on a board. I have created some hills and painted the baseboard green, and attached some scatter/turf with PVA. The excess has been brushed off. I want to now start adding some coarse grass and build up however how is this done? Is it a case of jus...

Re: Layout Help Please

That was my initial thought too! Perhaps it could work on a longer layout with a longer head-shunt as you say...But it's got an interesting part to the rest of the sidings.

Therefore wondering if it's possible to adapt in any way?

Layout Help Please

Hi all, I have an area just less than a 6x4ft space which I am looking to make a layout on. Saw this at the Hornby stand a few years ago and wanted to know your thoughts on it? 1. Any way this could be improved/modified to make the fiddle-yard more accessible? 2. Also there are 2 switches on the boa...

Getting Locos to run smoothly

Hi all, Im sure this has probably been asked and answered before, but I am puzzled on where to start with this. I cannot seem to get my locos Mainly 0-6-0 to run cleanly and smoothly, and they have a poor running look i.e. a bit jerky, need a jolt every so often. I am currently running a 6x4 old tra...

Re: Great Waterton - A Thomas Themed 6x4

Sorry for the late reply and thanks to all for commenting! I will also be putting some scale-lighting in and still have a few bits and bobs to finish off too. :D Can a layout ever be complete though?! - And plus...hopefully some more engines and revamped rolling-stock.As its DCC I need to finish fit...

Great Waterton - A Thomas Themed 6x4

Hi all, Thought I would create a thread to show my layout, which I built during Summer 2016 - Is a layout ever complete though?! As the title suggests...Its 'Thomas' themed, uses the old trakmat... and uses the buildings seen in the Hornby Thomas and Friends range - How original! I didn't real...

Re: Old Trackmat Picture

Well just giving my personal opinion on First Radius curves; I found an 0-6-0 by Hornby struggles with such a tight radius as I built a layout using these ( the newer trackmat one with has a curving inward section to the stations. Derailed everytime! Hope it works for your locos though! Just raising...

Does this track mat design use first radius curves by any chance?

Just a thought...

Anyone have any more information on this and whether it is actually the end of the line (pun intended) for the range? I think its really sad to see this happening but hopefull...

Re: Excellent photo for a layout plan

hi, you mentioned putting this onto an 8x4 ft board. would this be like included within a loop of track? I am intrigued by your idea, could you explain what you were thinking a bit more?

thanks
