Re: Gateside and Northbridge - Maybe Sometime!
. It will be really nice to have a comfortable warm room to work in! Jim Hi Jim. I had a layout in our attic. Although ideal size wise (40 odd feet x 20ft) I was hardly there. Then allowed 'the small bedroom' (11ft x 8ft) I never looked back. Family know exactly where I am. Looking forward to...

Re: Scaling in Four (or More) Dimensions
I think (in the main) that whilst a modeller will ensure a locomotive, coach , wagon, railway building etc. is 'true to scale' the scenery is a 'representation' of the real thing, because they do not have the room. Therefore a platform is not as long as the real one. A bridge or viaduct becomes shor...

I ran some trains yesterday. Class 52 D1013 Western Ranger has permission to proceed to Crown Point Yard. IMG_5238.JPG Class 47 47517 Andrew Carnegie on its way to Crown Point Yard. Matt Summers watches. His tidying up of the garden after the strong winds is taking some time to do. IMG_5239.JPG The ...

Re: Diesels at Crown Point and Sovereign St.
Love the Consett Iron Ore wagons. Do you have the unloading bridge? Hi GeraldH. The Consett Iron Co wagons do not fit in with the area I am modelling. I run them 'whenever I have ten minutes of running anything'. The reason for having them is purely a family connection. Very close members of the fa...

You have a particular talent for creating atmosphere with colours.
Really beautiful.

Thank you Daniel for your kind words. I just try to create little scenes that I remember and have a model railway running through it.

Clarence Dock has had a freshen up. Another 'downpour of rain. A bit of red. The post box has been changed to a Victorian style in keeping with the timeframe.
A new backscene at the end to give a more representation of the area.

Re: Diesels at Crown Point and Sovereign St.
I'd be a bit suspicious of that GPO Commer van . Never been in a Commer van, Bufferstop. A good story though. Drove a few units around the yard though, before I became a Transport Manager. :) The beauty of not having a terminus station like before, a train can be a lot longer. An oil train heading ...

Re: A 1944 themed layout
Looking good heda.
One minor thing to think about. Because of rationing of food during the war and after (until 1955 when it ended) most gardens were turned to growing food. I remember it well.
