Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street

Long before the area of Sovereign Street and The Calls became fashionable apartments, restaurants etc. etc. I, as an eight year old, would travel from Dewsbury to Leeds, alone. Get off the bus at the terminus in Sovereign Street and walk along Call Lane and The Calls on my way to the Leeds City Tran...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street

I like a nice goods yard !! Interesting about the 1912 fears of invasion. The Royal Flying Corps and later the RAF saw France as a possible future adversary. Things change so very slowly !! Geoff T. The fear of invasion was from Germany; though not saying directly. The British Army were also, in 19...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street

The fiddle yard. The track plan is part of Lybster Station (near Wick) When I feel like it I can run trains 'the other way'. Sovereign Street becomes the fiddle yard. It gives me 'another layout'. IMG_2516.JPG IMG_2517.JPG The three badges lying in the yard are for my grandchildren. The badges say ...

Re: Diesel Trains to Glenburnie Station

A view from the new grassland and bridge looking at the fiddle yard. Depending how I feel (and which grandchildren are here) the fiddle yard is north and south of Glenburnie on diesel days. North and south of Leeds Sovereign Street on steam running days. or Lybster Station. (Glencairn Estate is abou...

Re: Diesel Trains to Glenburnie Station

I was wondering what to put between the level crossing at A Vinnerd's garage and 'The Bridge'. I came across the Coach and Horses Inn building whist on my travels. As I was heavily involved with the Post Office and its history for over twenty years, I thought how ideal Here it now sits to the left o...
