Re: Exhbition 15th January - Beaminster, Dorset

Well we had a great day, not crowded, but a busy feel and enough coming to more than cover hall costs at an adult entry of £3, children free. That request for some pictures, well I scuttled around as things were still being set-up. John, perhaps our oldest active member was struggling to get his 009...

Re: Lima GWR 4575

MMMmmmm I have one of these to dispose of from Derry's stuff. Was difficult to get running and I think the wheel wipers need cleaning. Another slow starter, but fine once running. Also have 2 others DCC fitted that are mine and quite reliable, but not in the same ball-game as later Bachmann products...

Re: Lemington docks.... end to end

Hi Josh, Sounds like a reasonable purchase regardless. Even railway models are all the better for regular use. Left for years they become reluctant to run. Tracks also get 'dirty', just sitting unused. In my garage I try to run several laps every day and have very little need to clean the tracks. It...

Re: Two Short Planks

Hi Josh, Too true, it doesn't get that much use now. I'm finding that sliding the loft ladder down and climbing into the loft IS getting harder. Really only noticed it much over the last couple of years, has to be expected as I'm 80 in May. The other factor is loft's are cold in winter and unbearabl...

Re: Hornby Select Controller with Bachmann DCC sound Loco?

To Start I don't have a newer Select - the latest model has access to more CV's. So back in 2009 I only had a select and operated two different Bachmann sound diesels. A class 37, and a class 25, and with these older sound models I could switch sound on/off; Lighting on/off, separate cab light on/of...

Re: Derry's Yard - A Set-Track shunting loop Project

My New Year's resolution is to finish long standing layouts. Derry's Yard being one of them. The delay is all about scenery and electrics. Both these intertwined as I needed to buy the welding simulators, plus yard lights and duly wire in before I could construct the low relief buildings that would ...

Welcome Back.
You did well to remember your log-in.
I do recall the name, but as usual with me I can't remember anything specific.

Re: Sound effects

Sounds we don't hear !! Bufferstop when I had the snubber connected on Green Frog Brewery layout Stephen said he couldn't stay near as the high pitch scream was driving him nuts. Me I couldn't hear a thing !! I'm now looking for a 5V to 12V whooping siren that the plan is to have switched on by a IR...

Re: Sound effects

I only ever had the one tape deck, in fact still have it permanently connected into the Hi-Fi set. Not that I use it even once a year ! Once I could hear the different tape hiss between Chrome Tapes and Ferritic, now my hearings so blunted I can stand Mini Ripperton and Kate Bush. Who thought railwa...

Re: Sound effects

Hi All & stevegant in particular. When I started my St Oval layout I wanted to add sound. The idea was to use a battery powered CD 'walkman' to play sounds to speakers mounted in 1) the Pub; 2) the Chapel. I have the speakers mounted, but never got it working because the output from the speakers...
