Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

I than you all for the kind comments regarding the Conflat build. I do have a sort of smile this morning, I have the car back !! The bill was only £156 which included roadside recovery. All due to a failing corroded spring clip that held the clutch slave cylinder causing damage to hydraulic pipes. I...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Ughh I'm going down hill fast. It would be better if I did what I preach. My P.D Conflat A, roughly decalled. This diagram of conflat doesn't even get a mention in David Larkin's book 1948-1954, although it's listed by Don Rowland in the BRs first half million. It's shown as being 11 Ton rated, whic...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Well, I thought I'd come clean ...... not exactly 'clean', but Dave flashed his tidy, in the house workbench, at us. This is what a real workbench looks like. https://image.ibb.co/jDo1h6/IMG_2547.jpg Perhaps not exactly the workbench, but more a location for pending jobs. Things awaiting some bits t...

Re: Crisis point

Nothing New is there ? I'd always looked at your insatiable appetite for secondhand locomotives as something of a fetish. The train had to hit the buffers sooner or later. As to having self control, no problem, the problem is always mission creep. I can recall saying I was ONLY going to do blue dies...

Re: I must stop spending!

O.K I'm VERY good at ..... well shall we say, keeping spending under strict control. Not this week though. The Sound fitted Oxford Rail Dean Goods in BR black early crest have 'landed' At £164 it comes into my more expensive luxuries. I have for a while after running a club members all sound layout ...

Re: Dave's Corner

Too tidy by far !!

I appreciate the radiator location, but shouldn't that have a nice padded
seat to lounge in rather than a wooden stool ?
We need comfort, once past a certain age.

Re: Glazing buildings

Hi muggins, TimberSurf starts with exactly the same word as me ..... It all depends ....... Firstly on the size of your windows and then the type of window frame. All glues can mark windows and the actual material used, something we're not always fully aware of is highly significant. Cyno glues can ...

Re: HS II - The Kadee Experiments

Hi retiredoperator, Best to continue here with the query as it's out of context in my Workbench Thread. I gather you're wanting to use Kadees ? Are both those 57XX locomotives you have Bachmann ? If so do these two different undersides represent what you have ? https://image.ibb.co/gL0Kzb/IMG_2544.j...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Hi retiredoperator, Yes, Kev you're correct it wasn't this thread, but one in 'Layouts Under Construction' called HSII - The Kadee Experiments. Trouble is I can't really remember details of the question you asked. I can't remember if you were wanting to fit and use Kadees on a shunting layout. Almos...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Well my local garage have collected the car. A tow in job at the end of a steel bar 'cos 4 wheel drive can't be suspended towed Can't start until Wednesday as fully booked with work, but that's no hardship. Now to decide what to do ? Probably my 'sidings' for part-built wagons in various stages of c...

Re: Galgorm Hall 00 Gauge Loft Layout

FS123, I was so impressed with the signal box that I would - if pushed made a set of steps for it. To spoil such a superb building would be almost criminal. I could have suggested I'd make steps in exchange for a 5 story wharf-side building, but that might be a little unfair !! Anyway we're not in a...

Re: NRM 2017 00 'Tour' STARTED

It would need a 'Fancy' paint scheme ........

I must say I'm impressed with participants layouts, imagination and
involvement. A sign we have great members dallying on NRM.

Although we have to finish 2017 Tour first .......
