Re: leds

Certainlt I double the cost of a point when estimating the final bill, point motor & polarity switching, as to wiring cost it's just 'lost'. Exactly what you're planning for those LEDs is unclear, but using batteries is a logical way. However exactly what you Xmas tree lighting system is not cle...

Re: Not a layout - but railway modelling

After 7 Months ? Ouch. MUST finish by 18th December as that's the clubs diorama competition. Today added water to the stream, very flat no ripples as these have to be added as it's setting - BUT when ? Far too liquid to hold any surface markings, by morning will it be too dry ? I just have to take t...

Re: West Bay Bridport - Club Layout

I thank you Lysander & FS123, I do like the scenery side and wagons building best, I suppose it shows. The number of photos to follow on this layout will be limited due to taking it back to the club rooms & future storage in the cellar. Will that leave room for another ? ............ severe ...

Kadees nearly 'there' .......... Platform lights on and working. A Ratio 'Iron Mink' and Parkside 'Mink 'A' being taken out behind a 57XX with the Oxford Rail "Bridport" 6 wheel 'Toad' https://i.ibb.co/87jY8w2/cropped.jpg Just a quick flash visit, still work to do before 12th January. Geof...

Re: West Bay Bridport - Club Layout

Hi John & Anyone interested in Kadees, Electro-magnets is probably the way to go for a higher level of success in ALL aspects for the dedicated scenic modeller. I was cheesed off at club the other night where one of the small kadee magnets worked 100% with every test !! That's the between rails ...

Re: West Bay Bridport - Club Layout

Hi Timbersurf, To be honest that was an un-braked wagon. Now fitted with a single axle brake and will still move under magnetic draw, but, in shall we say, a relaxed manner ! Because I don't have much free time and certainly unable to bring the layout indoors, there has been limited testing of the h...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

For another year I've missed Warley.
Probably a good way of sawing money, although it's really sad
when even Hatton's Sale didn't tempt me.

Ahh that wagon had me thinking "Pipe Dreams".........

Re: West Bay Bridport - Club Layout

Kadees ..... Grrrrr. I have this magnet working well (By British freight standards) It's as much to do with all modern British outline wagons having magnetic wheel sets as anything else. You can't expect to move a trip pin that sits 0.8 mm above rail head height without causing a reaction to magneti...

Re: West Bay Bridport - Club Layout

Hi joshv8,

Thanks for the kind comments ...... I just keep plodding along although
it's a sobering thought when you look back, nigh on 10 years of different
layouts.

More on Kadees to follow when I upload the short video.

Re: West Bay Bridport - Club Layout

I've not had the chance to bring indoors and fully test, BUT it seems like I've improved the Kadee action by sawing the large underboard magnet in half ! A little brutal with a requirement of very accurate driving because of the much reduced envelope of magnetic action. No hope however with my two l...

Re: The Triang and Hornby 0-4-0 Loco Thread.

I kept away from this, I'm not really embarrased by having some 4, or 5 Hornby 0-4-0's Just decided to keep quiet due to being busy. This is probably the Daddy of all working 0-4-0 videos. This train is so long it's difficult to work out how many are attached. My Marilyn is a cracker and used almost...

Re: Coal themed Plank

You'll need to be highly focused to get the scenics looking right
in that space. We did HS-2 on 48" x 18" and that was just about
our minimum.

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

As my wife begins to recover I managed to grab a couple of hours to decal up the Iron Mink, and Mink 'A'. First the Mink 'A' with end numbers https://image.ibb.co/jHfC7A/IMG-2880.jpg Then the Iron Mink https://image.ibb.co/dLBKnA/IMG-2879.jpg I now need to add small splashes of colour to buffer shan...
