Indecision is often overcome by having a good discussion.
I still think the ref was wrong !!
Not making, just playing, as I found a few people without their stand bases
I added and then put 'on site'

Re: What I get up to:
Nothing wrong with some old stuff. I've re-claimed 3 pieces of Triang
and a few Wrenn wagons. All now with modern wheel sets and NEM pockets
so I can use Kadees, or tension-lock as I fancy, more like if I can be bothered
to snap in and out !! How lazy can you get ?

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works
Away from the repair theme, still back with odd things. In March I was making up a Parkside LNER Dia 207 21 ton Loco Coal wagon. When exploring Paul Bartlett's photo files (One of the best things on-line) I found a couple of photos of a Dia 207 converted to a Gauge Wagon. MMM although never intendin...

Re: Anyone currently buying?
Bigmet,
I was tempted to get one before the year end, but just didn't get around to it.
You're making me regret that oversight !!
Although it is an 0-6-0 and I was into 0-4-0's at the time.

Re: Chalkhill
Indecision strikes home ! Today there are 43 wagons on Chalkhill. I had planned to use Kadees, but on this layout it's awkward to know where to place magnets. While the locations work well enough they do limit what shunting movements I can make. One of the difficulties is that the lead into each sid...

Re: Souther Railway Non Passenger Coaching Stock
Getting the right decals can sometimes be impossible. You also have to be prepared to mix all sorts of decals. I have used HMRS LNER numbers on a GWR in BR service build. Often a case of using the nearest you can find, even using white when straw is needed - life 'aint perfect. Then apart from yours...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Access the bugbear of a built in layout.
From that I gather you're putting new track back rather than that lifted.
In my opinion the ideal option that as near as possible promises perfect track.

Fisherman's Tales, or tall stories !! My damned knee is giving trouble again - Thought it was O.K yesterday and probably over did it. The most comfortable place is sitting at the kitchen table, the very place where I do my wagon work. There is this Mainline GWR Match Truck sitting on Chalkhill by a ...

Like FatController I keep to what I know & understand.
No intention to use Gorilla, you see it everywhere because of
commercial considerations, Not because it's particularly good !!

For Anyone who doubts that a dab of varnish will hold on
well enough. Here are a couple of notices fixed to a noticeboard
on the back of a weigh-bridge office.
Still secure after 5 years in a shed - fiddly, but try it.

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works
Ahh Bigmet, home printers, no, can't be doing with that now.. Certainly I keep to faded, obliterated, only there was never anything there ! I have thought about a gentle pencil with a super-fine point. Anyway here are 4 labels stuck down with satin varnish, looks like I need to buy another Humbrol m...

Re: Lurker, but with a username
Bigmet, Can't disagree with any of those, although I have and do live with the occasional 'tyre'. For me the regular use is the most significant factor in reliable track work. IF and when I used to run the garage layout almost every day it never seemed to need attention. This last winter it's been l...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works
O.K I need another wagon like a hole in the head - I have a hole in the head it's supposed to have a brain in it !!!! I started a Parkside Fruit D, and now have to find a suitable colour for a BR steam period version. Coach Crimson, or coach Maroon ????? Perhaps even just good old BR Bauxite, either...
