Re: St David's Road TMD
I've made a slight change to the plan. I didn't know locos would only move in one direction through the wash plant. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1795/43874794662_9357df4c15_c.jpg Adding an extra line from the refueling rig allows locos to pass in one direction onto the headshunt to leave the depot...

Best solution for folding legs?
I've built two small ish tables 1500mm by 600mm using 9mm Ply and 34x34mm PSE softwood. There isn't that much flex and I'll be putting in braces once I know where the points are going to be placed. The tables, at the moment bolt together with 3x 10mm bolts. Although the current track design incorpor...

St David's Road TMD
Decided to give building an OO gauge layout another attempt. I did have a 6m by 3m layout in the loft of my previous house but that had to come down when I moved. I'm considering converting my garage with a view to put a layout in there but for now, I want to build something that I can run my locos ...

Modern image TMD layout
I've been working on a 00 gauge modern image layout design for a while now. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/857/41783827480_36fd97c817_c.jpg Although I'd like a round the room layout and have plans for this in the future, I want to make sure I can commit to building a layout in the first place. I had...

DCC questions - Roco Multimaus
I have the Roco Multimaus Pro system. I bought it for the wireless option and the intention to use Rocomotion as my planned layout was fairly complex and I wanted to use PC control. However, I have subsequently moved and no longer have a layout at the moment. I initially had a Powercab which I reall...

Old DCC systems no longer in use
I have 3 DCC systems that are no longer in use and was wondering if there would be any interest in them. I'm not sure on pricing otherwise I would go straight to the for sale threads. In particular, I have an old ZTC system which were either well regarded or not that great depending on your viewpoin...

Re: Station-less layout?
Thank you all for the replies. Much appreciated.
The layout design as it stands is in the planning forum on here. I'm building the fiddle yard first which will take a month or two so I have time to decide which way I want to go.

Station-less layout?
I'm currently pondering whether to include a station in my layout design (5m x 3m loop layout). In all designs I've played around with I've always included at least one station. My current design has quite a decent length station but the layout doesn't really have a section where the trains can be s...

Re: New loft layout
Have made another attempt at a layout design. I've finally found a design with the station down one of the long sides that I'm happy with. It does however remove the straight run from the original design which I quite liked. http://www.slotforum.com/forums/uploads/1345168394/gallery_1222_855_5162.jp...

Re: Which controller?
I have the Roco Multimaus Pro system. Its wireless and comes with a cut down version of RR&Co train controller. You can pick one up off Ebay for couple of hundred. Cheaper than buying something like a digtrax system and then buying control software for a PC. I would say it isn't as easy as using...

Re: New loft layout
Do you mean the bit that isn't connected to the rest of the layout? That line is solely to allow two branchline DMUs to go back and for. The line doesn't have to go all the way down to the bottom of the fiddle, I just put the siding there as it fitted on the table - most of that side if the layout i...

Re: New loft layout
In all honesty it is just habit for me to put the station there when designing layouts on the table I have. The board on the right is narrow because originally it was about 90cm wide. When I gave up the last layout I took out that section and have our bikes hanging there at the moment. I put in a na...

Re: New loft layout
Any comment is welcome scribe.
The platform length is about 160cm. My maximum train length will be 240cm - 250 at a push. Once I lay the track I'll get a feel for how much of the train will be hidden under the town. But yes, theres no reason why not to extend the platform into the curve.

Re: New loft layout
Ah, apologies with the DCC-isms. I bought the Roco system because I want computer control and the Roco Pro system comes with a trimmed down version of RR&Co train controller. From reading the net and watching youtube vids I'm 99% sure It will do what I want. I paid £200 for the system including ...

Re: New loft layout
Thanks for the reply Ex-Pat. You are right, its about 18 x 10 foot. Track will be code 75 flexi. Control will be via Roco Multimaus Pro with Rocomtion, 3x Roco 10787, 3x LDT GB8, 3X Roco 775, and lots of DCC concepts Masterswitch to lend more oomph to the 775s. Least thats the plan! That will provid...
